Do you PM? How often? Why?

I have recently become aware that there is a lot of backdoor chatter going on between members. Probably a lot of good info including trying to figure out who each of us is who post anonymously. Comments?

I PM several folks So . Perhaps a little over six a week and much of the time to share proprietary info.

EDIT: The poll only accepts one choice, so pick the best one that fits.

I'll PM a member about information I don't wish others to know.

I PM very rarely. Probably only 4 or 5 times in the last 6 months.

I PM on a regular basis. Mostly something good or helpful.

I keep up with a group friends who get together for dinner at the winter FUN show. I've also exchanged notes with other collectors about the rarity of some items like early half dimes. I also give advice to people ask me about a coin they have been offered. The PMs can be enjoyable.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

I've heard it said before that there are more PM exchanged on this forum than actual posts. Not me though, I'm not all that interesting, don't have any secret knowledge to share, etc. Most, but not all, of mine are BST related. I don't even use a fake name. Since we got this new forum style I've only exchanged messages with 4 people.

PMs are an important part of this forum for me. Great way to keep in touch with friends. I'll sometimes ask a member for help and most always get positive and helpful information back.

Got PM's going with various members on various topics from time to time. In fact we have one PM going on 'who is this Insider 2 guy anyway'? Turns out, we still don't know who he is but we aims to find out..... Or, maybe he will come out of the closet and tell us? ;););)

I PM occasionally... and I always respond to PM's received.... It is a good method for exchanging comments or information quickly and may not be relevant or fit for a thread. Cheers, RickO

I used to call , Skype, PM, text and send smoke signals to several guys and a few gals.
Nowadays, you can count your blessings, if I respond here.

Once in a while; there is phenomenal experience, advanced academic training and common sense on these forums. Probably a large majority have spent the bulk of their lives in business and have degrees from ba to doctorates, so their inputs are valuable. There is a lot of information that may need to be kept private, though I have nothing to hide.

I only PM with a member I know.

The new system of PM's is wortless and cumbersome, so I don't do it much anymore.

I PM but not very often. It can be for different reasons.

I usually only PM in response to a PM, and then I am usually late as I often don't notice the PM box. In fact this thread prompted me to take a look and I found there were messages there waiting including one from the OP. :)

I PM occasionally when I wish to buy something or have a specific conversation about something that is irrelevant for other members.

I've pm'ed many different members over the years (both here and ATS) but it is not on a regular basis. I only do it when I have specific questions or comments to share or, if someone has a question for me, then I try to help. I do enjoy it, when I do it, as it is educational and social.

On the bottom of your inbox it says ALL MESSAGES so click on that. If you and I exchange PMs today and then a week later they won't all be in one group, if you've exchanged PMs with someone else in the interim.

I P a lot more often than I PM. But that's not one of the choices. Most of my PMs are regarding buying and selling.

If you go to your page for "all messages" where it shows all of your conversations, hold down "ctrl" and "F" and a search box will appear on your toolbar. You can use that search box to scan everything on that page that way...so pop in the username and it should track it down. PM me if you want me to send you screenshots of what I'm talking about.
