All I can say is "Holy Moley". It is real gift to all coin collectors to have a piece like this in such a high grade preserved for Numismatic Posterity.

It looks like the Col. Green coin which sold at Heritage in November. Someone crossed it from NGC 64+ to PCGS 64.
If this is the coin, I saw it in Dallas and is beautiful in hand.
For the record, I too would rather have PRCC's 1796 quarter!
My coin, the PRCC coin, actually looks like a specimen really. I also saw the one graded SP 66 PCGS, ex Eliasberg, this coin sold for 850k USD and I didnt grade is Specimen neither 66. The PRCC coin is fully prooflike, looks like proof, sharply struck with all details there and no adjustment marks.

Your coin that is being referenced was acquired from TDN? I seem to remember him/Legend acquiring an out of this world 1796 with full PL qualities like those you talk of... If it is the same coin... It is absolutely out of this world

While i am sure there are discernible differences in coins of this age and grade, I personally think any coin of this period, in such condition, is amazing. Cheers, RickO

my coin is the ex Pogue PCGS 66
In my humble opinion, yours is the example against which all others are likely to be judged, now and forever.
One of the most magnificent examples of early Federal coinage.

That 67 is the one TDN handled 10 or 12 years ago as part of a deal right? I remember seeing some impressive images. I have this special place in my heart for 1796 Silver. There is just something about them... thanks for sharing the images and discussion.

the 67 looks really beautiful too, no adjustment marks in the fields and full eagle details too. And beautiful toning !
TDN Obviously you remember your coin deals... But I thought you picked up a stunning PL 1796 quarter in a deal with an amazing high grade Morgan... Maybe it was Legend and I just assigned it to you... I remember downloading the images that were posted but they are on my desktop. .. or hell I may just be completely wrong

Not really. Some finer are graded without the variety attribution
I’d rather have prcc’s example
Thanks for the clarification TDN!

Stunningly absolutely!
That's huge, one of their finest on their Coinfacts.
nice, i like
Looks really nice, but I agree with above comments that PRCC's is the one to have.

wow-great coin. bet PCGS did not cross it first time which is why it is missing a +. if so, what do they want?
Lovely... very lovely.

Awesome!
Lovely example. Can only imagine what it would have been like without the adjustment marks.
What were those mint workers thinking back in 1796?

Let’s not forget the pcgs67 coin. Wouldn’t kick it out of bed for eating crackers...
we will need to see it. Concern is that it might be dark, hopefully its not.
Both magnificent. My thoughts being a perfect example of posting before coffee hits the brain. The 67 is the Benson piece?
I believe it’s the Stack type set piece

I wonder why they got so expensive in high grades, there are so many of these in 65 and above !!

TDN, did you see the 67 coin ? Is it nice ? Is it dark ? Is it flashy / prooflike ?
@privaterarecoincollector, your ex-Ten Eyck, ex-Pogue coin looks amazing. From the photos, your Browning 2 looks flashier than the Browning 1.
