I don’t know Mr. Hansen, but it might not be accurate to refer to him as someone who knows nothing about the business. Numismatics clearly hasn’t been the focus of his life’s work, but that does not make him ignorant.

Very few of us have met him. Nevertheless, recently, he has decided to become a very active collector with the goal of assembling the best collection ever. The coin business is complicated. It is lucky for many of you that there is a TPGS "crutch" or your eyes and wallets would have been plucked-out by now and you'd be rubbing your butt!
Apparently, Mr. Hansen is a wise enough BUSINESSMAN to realize that he is not qualified at the moment to price and grade coins like as a successful professional in this BUSINESS! That's the reason he has enlisted the aid of others who are more informed than many here."
Claiming that I said he is "ignorant" is well...! I do know this: All the money in the world does not make a person a numismatist no matter how good a businessman they are.

Maybe with the new found capital they can invest in a DSLR, macro lense and a photography intern and throw the scanner in the garbage.
We have 3-4 of these operating in the office and use them on every coin over $500...

Sorry folks, I'm a day late to the thread as we've been pretty busy with the year-end stuff this week. But, I appreciate the kind comments.
For those that weren't so kind, please let me know what we can do better. I'd love to chat with you and see how we can improve.
I've been working with Mr. Hansen as a client for a while, but I'm looking forward to having him as a partner in the new year. We're not planning on any major changes at the moment, but we'll see how we can improve DLRC and we'll look forward to continuing to work on Mr. Hansen's already amazing collection.

After a few hours of reflection on this issue David Lawrence would seem to be a big winner. And if there might be a loser I think it would be Legend Numismatics. I have bought many coins from Legend and a few from David Lawrence and have been very impresed with Legend's advice as being the best in the business, but will not say DL's advice is not as good. But Legend seems to me to have a better reputation of representing collectors. Perhaps some you on this forum can relate your experience with DL(not Dell Loy) vs. LS........ and another option for Dell Loy might have been Kevin Lipton.
...I like how the Boss comes here and responds always with respect and honesty...I don’t say much, but I will say this. DLRC is one of the only company’s that I have bought from on eBay and then gone outside of eBay for the other 4 or 5 times I have purchased...I made the decision to cut eBay’s juice going forward, not them...they never mentioned it...every single time I called they were right there and ready to make a deal. Never pushy and always straight up...I do agree that better photos might work if you have a fatter purse at the shoulder...but nevertheless I would bet them in the street that says this partnership will be successful. When something already works well then extra capital usually only helps growth & prosperity...I actually prefer buying coins in plastic from scans (on eBay at least) and I always buy under-$500 on 90% of my buys.
So Great Luck to them and Absolutley I would do business with them again! They are good people in my book
This is really interesting and exciting news. First, what Dell Hansen has done with his own collection is really incredible and should be applauded. He took on an almost impossible challenge and is much closer to the finish line than most everyone thought was imaginable. His current coin holdings are truly impressive and the quality I see is far better than many predicted early on (the number of wonder coins in his collection is breathtaking).
Becoming a partner in DLRC to me shows his love of coins. I can never be critical of someone's passion for this hobby. Clearly Mr. Hansen is more than someone with just a lot of money but a true lover of coins. I am sure it will only make DLRC better.
Maybe with the new found capital they can invest in a DSLR, macro lense and a photography intern and throw the scanner in the garbage.

Here are a couple up on eBay. Too much yellow or brown and many of your images are like that.
Please take it as constructive criticism , it is just not acceptable in this day and age when nearly every major dealer and EVERY boutique dealer delivers outstanding pictures leveraging one or many different sources for great photography.
Dell Loy brings a lot more to the party for DLRC than just financial backing. He has learned an amazing amount in just 18 months. Do not underestimate him. Anyone who has met him knows he does not do things half a**ed. That has been a big reason for his success all these years in all his endeavors. With John at the helm, they are really poised to do whatever they decide going forward.

This can't be repeated enough. There's a few really great coin dealers that have to come to terms with this. In the end they will likely regret not doing this years ago.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
I have to agree with the photography. The site is very easy to use, and Ive bought from you before, but the photography leaves a lot to be desired, and there are some coins I passed on as a result.
This can easily be improved. And I suspect it will with Dell Loy's influence.
Dell Loy, who is the best coin collector of our time, will bring DLRC to new heights.
Also when a shopper clicks on, let's say the Half Dime category for example, the category shouldn't silently blend into the dime category as the shopper scrolls down the page. Nothing should be viewable except what is within the chosen category. As someone who frequently browses your inventory, that would be a great thing to address.
Good luck in your new venture & I wish you great success!
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
