Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
I'll go with 58 as these come nicely struck and I'm seeing a weak center band and rub directly under that. Would like to have this one in my collection
I'm at an AU-58 on this. I think PCGS might also be as well. The thing that is throwing me a bit and making me want to say AU-55 is the apparent lack of luster in the images. But I'm going to assume it's just the images and that the luster is there, although with rub on both the obverse and reverse, mostly obverse, making it AU-58.

Looks like a very nice one with original skin. I don't know what to think about the very mushy bands on the reverse. I'm about MS 64.
My grade AU-58+. PCGS grade MS-62

MS- 63 looking coin.
I LOVE old coins.
Graders stare at key dates for a bit longer. I’m in at around MS62/3.
My thinking is an AU58+
I believe that most mercury dimes struck in 1916 had great strikes.
my grade 63
pcgs 58

Details? The damage to the obverse - rim @ 11:00, forehead, round hit at eyebrow/temple, smaller round hit on leading edge of wing.
Reverse - Middle bands are flat - damage?? Or wear? Or less than good strike?
What does the luster in the fields look like in hand? Around the devices?
Sorry, I am stuck at a details holder for the unfortunate items on the obverse.
I think the AU 58 - MS 62 crowd has it. No FB. Decent coin overall.
I'm thinking MS63 No SB, but an AU58 from PCGS wouldn't shock me either and I could go along with that from what I can see.

I agree with Bill Jones. My Grade 58+ PCGS 62 No FB
I believe it to be a most attractive 58+ and I feel pcgs will grade 58+ also.

My feelings also.
65 no fsb.
Maybe 66 depending on how the mark above the eye looks in hand
Why does anyone have FSB in their guess?
FSB does not apply to this coin in any way!
I’m gonna say 58 from both me and PCGS.

The luster shows better on that photo.
Congrats on a monster date in choice condition.

That’s is a very nice piece. I would have guessed 64 and I’m not quite sure why it’s not. Congratulations
Way nicer looking than 63. Good eye you got there.
