Although AU-50 to 58 is generally my "sweet spot" for early coins, here are some EF-45 graded pieces.
I wish I could photograph this one better. It is graded EF-45, but the eye appeal makes it worth as much as any AU-50 or 53.
The 1855-D gold dollar is very well struck for the issue with original surfaces. Personally I think that it is an AU-50, but it's in an EF45 holder.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
Liking the filter option they added to the set registry a while back. I could easily go see which coins I had in XF45. I do agree that it is a very pleasant grade.

Great coins, all. Here's one I cracked out for a Whitman peace dollar album, other dates range MS62-65 in grade and are lightly toned, thought this would fit in fairly well without breaking the bank, with limited downside from freeing from the slab..

I love the clashed dies on the Dahlonega dollar. It would make a great replacement for the Philadelphia issue in my type set.
it's crackers to slip a rozzer the dropsy in snide
Nice coins everyone! Also a big fan of this grade... it was my target grade when working on a Dansco 7070 years ago. Here's a crusty XF45 mini dime run...

That would be a good idea until you find out what I paid for that coin ... WAY too much. I got carried away at an auction.
As for the reverse, it's sharper than 99% of the Philadlephia Mint pieces I've seeh. Dahlonega, in certain instances, made better coins than some people might think

These coins are crustier than my grand-mama's caramel apple pies! And just as sweet. Thanks for the thread!

Coin is dark grey, not black as photographed. I love early XF type where the eagles breast feathers still show!

just posted this in another thread regarding 18th century coins.
My best looking 45. Cannot believe they graded it as that. Probably net graded for the obverse planchet defect.
