1899 Indian Cent NGC MS-65 RB......NOT!

The eBay crook, ahello2u23, used to sell coins in counterfeit PCGS holders, now he is using a new scam.......he cracked-out an 1899 MS65RB cent out of a real NGC holder and replaced the coin with a common cheap 1899 xf cent. He than reglued the holder back together.....PS: He's also selling gravel he has on his driveway as meteorites:

I have seen his stuff. And what's more amusing is some of his sales has satisfied customers. I think he goes into his driveway and picks up a rock and calls it magnetic and whatnot , throws it it a box and bam, you now have a rare space rock. Sad, really.

Sadly, this is not hard to do with NGC holders.

Side-by-side edge photos below compare cracked holders to non-cracked ones. Cracking done by me but not for nefarious purposes...just out of curiosity.

edit to add: the lighter color slabs are genuine un-cracked ones with the white NGC gasket inside. The darker color ones have no gasket. They are empty shells.

If you look closely you can see some flaws from the cracking. But they are very minor and most folks wouldn't notice. The sonic weld often leaves a little messiness.

I 'think' I see the cracked slab, but not sure... could be lighting or simple manufacturing variance... Interesting, I did not know this was being done....Please elaborate on your pictures with details... Thank you, Cheers, RickO

The coin in the sellers pictures are clearly not the same coin seen at the NGC website. You can see the areas of holder tampering on the left and right hand sides. Here is the feedback left on this listing:

I got a good laugh out of that one although defrauding people is really not that funny.

It seems like he's going to a lot of trouble to rip people out of $100 or so. He ruins the certification on a coin that bids for $175, replaces it with $2 coin and then collectors his ill gotten gains.
