I have an NGC MS70. Couldn't get $525 for it, so am planning to keep it for the time being.

A few of the 1997 Jackie Robinsons recently went for $795 each in PCGS MS69. These were once $4,000 coins.

Most moderns are way out of favor.

Waiting on those beers guys. :)

You know who you are that owe me a pint ;)

As for the auction ... Justin sold it tonight (a consignment coin) and a board member gobbled it up. I thought the price was fair.

I sold my PCGS F/S 70 on 2/11 for $910, and folks where saying: sold to low. I wonder what the PCGS F/S 70's are selling for now.

I find it fascinating to watch the cycle of pricing on 'key' coins.... Dynamic rise intially, peak, then the slow demise......happens in most cases....Cheers, RickO

With the horrible sales of the Boys Town I am not surprised prices are this low. I own some as well and the price probably won't improve until we get a higher mintage coin coming out from the mint. It's a buyers market.

Recently bought a PCGS gold Jamestown $5 in pf70dcam for 315 with free shipping on eBay. I see the same fate for later issues down the road. Not enough Collector interest to drive demand.

edited to add......80 PCGS registry sets in MS, 87 in proof. Compare that to the huge number of ASE registry set participants.

1973 minted for the MS Gold Boys Town so far. $424.75 Will the mint produce a more unpopular coin in the future? Good chance the parks would be unseated. However, lot of people will be chasing the lowest mintage.

Reminds me of the spouse gold coins, chasing the lowest mintage. But unlike the spouses, the commems series could last for decades.

Jackie Unc is still the key date it seems-- The differences in mintages or just too slight to matter.

There are only 68 in PCGS 70--That's why Jackie 70's still commands the higher prices. The 69's are a puzzle, probably just along for the ride...

The only sure way to make money on these coins is for the price of gold bullion to rise. That's how I have made my "paper profits" on them. It's more interesting than buying a gold bar.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

One of them sold for nearly $1400 in late October. Hard to understand.
