What numismatic fantasy of yours would you pursue?

For starters I'd fund 10 young numismatists scholarship that take both academic achievement AND financial need into account.

On those piddly prizes, like $400 million, I would always say that the winnings wouldn't last two weeks.

But this time, I think $700 million would last three weeks.

    Probably.

    Maybe.

I hope I could get a couple of nice Twenty Dollar Libs. And an Eddystone Lighthouse conder.

While that's very noble, that's what you really fantasize about in relation to coins?

I guess I'm at the age where if I had the funds I'd enjoy helping others more than chasing a particular coin. But know that eventually I'd see a numismatic prize I would have to have.

I would start a thread right here on CU..Anyone and everyone who posted in it, with a login that was made prior to my thread would each get 5k cash...I would buy a front booth at the Long Beach Expo and have two 300+ pounded men dressed in black Hugo Boss attire quietly distributing the cash envelopes to all the winners...and then you guys would never here from me again ;)

But it is a pipe dream, since, of course, I am going to win.

I wonder what it would take to get the US Mint to strike gold eagles on the same .9999 gold planchets that they use for the buffalo.

It goes without saying that at nearly 70 YO it would be lump sum. I'd load up on GOLD.

Set up an auction house with an 8% buyers fee and no sellers. Use a credit card and the fee drops to 6%

Around these parts, folks would say 'if I won the Lottery, I would just keep farmin' until the money was all gone in ten years or so!'.

Sounds like you intend to do the same thing, only with a numismatic auction house.

You know, I'd build a beach house with an enviable numismatic library since I love reading about coins. And by library I mean both the books and the library room. Comfy chairs for visitors, great natural lighting, viewing table, etc.

I 'd buy my way into PCGS or NGC and write/research coin dies all day. A million should be enough for me to write my own ticket. :) Then I'd do a class at Summer Seminar. CAC would be more fun but NJ SUCKS! The worst state I've ever lived it so that's out.

Would take a table at the next regional show with a makeshift "Top prices paid!" cardboard sign and see what walks up.

Coins would not be a primary focus. As stated in an earlier thread, that much money - suddenly - brings a plethora of issues that must be addressed. After that, a sizeable segment of philanthropy would be my priority. After that, some personal measures of comfort. Then, after all the 'dust' settles, a couple of nice firearms and coins....An Octagonal PanPac for a pocket piece perhaps... :D;) Cheers, RickO

First I would need stilt house in LA w basement room for large safe. It Upper floors good views of city and oceanz. Next wb high end car, Blonde Cali girl sugar baby.

I would not keep much in coins at house but use SDB's. I would want 100 nice PCGS DE, about 20 MS 69 PCGS AGB, and some select USGTC. No expensive rarities just bulk up on nice stuff. Bulk of money invested in stocks, bonds, Real Estate - ranch in Montana, properties in Florida. Would buy SB nice car, spoil her w gifts, travel. Would want blonde, Cali girl, around 20-25 like one I saw while waiting in cable car line in SF not too long ago. She was there w shopping bags then Guy about my age walked up to w some more shopping bags. No he was not her Dad lol. Coins - not much use for them if I have $700 M lol. Been there done that.

my collecting ideas wouldn't change one bit, i'd still look though change and buy whatever caught my notice within my budget of $150.00 for coins and banknotes

see that amount of money would be used to pay off credit card bills, fix the house up, help my family out when needed, but as for coins and such nothing would change from what i'm doing now

    Glad you asked:

Minus: Restrictive gun laws, jug handles, v. high taxes, snow, bad drivers.

Plus: Snow, many of the people, Jersey tomatoes, train to NYC, and...all those little towns with a completely different atmosphere. Oh, and the pizza.
