If you won the $700,000,000 PowerBall lottery...

What numismatic fantasy of yours would you pursue?
For starters I'd fund 10 young numismatists scholarship that take both academic achievement AND financial need into account.
Buyer and seller of vintage coin boards!

Now that I'm thinking about it I'd also have a PCGS Coin Forum giveaway of EPIC proportions!!!
On those piddly prizes, like $400 million, I would always say that the winnings wouldn't last two weeks.
But this time, I think $700 million would last three weeks.
Probably.
Maybe.
I hope I could get a couple of nice Twenty Dollar Libs. And an Eddystone Lighthouse conder.
-spend a couple million on advertising to shake loose an uncirculated Strawberry Leaf large cent.
-buy a roll of those 100 kilo gold Maple Leaf'
I guess I'm at the age where if I had the funds I'd enjoy helping others more than chasing a particular coin. But know that eventually I'd see a numismatic prize I would have to have.
I'd buy it all...
Pay a ton in taxes and then finish off my $5 liberty set.
it's crackers to slip a rozzer the dropsy in snide
~~~~I will buy out the rest of newly released 2017 2-Coin Silver 1 oz Britannia Proof/Reverse Proof Set and send everyone who posts on this thread a set until it runs out.
I would start a thread right here on CU..Anyone and everyone who posted in it, with a login that was made prior to my thread would each get 5k cash...I would buy a front booth at the Long Beach Expo and have two 300+ pounded men dressed in black Hugo Boss attire quietly distributing the cash envelopes to all the winners...and then you guys would never here from me again
I will say "Many Thanks!".
But it is a pipe dream, since, of course, I am going to win.
The design on that thingie is one of the Royal Mint's better original designs in many a sadd moon.
I would buy all of the 1894-S dimes.Should be able to pull off buying all of them for less than $100 M. i pay finder fee of $1M to individual who help me find each one and a sale results.
Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters.
I would do a Complete U.S. Coin set 1792-1964 with no coin less than XF45.
I'd buy CAC and regrade all my coins.
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
I would buy up all the gold spouse coins and melt them as a goodwill gesture to the collecting community.
I wonder what it would take to get the US Mint to strike gold eagles on the same .9999 gold planchets that they use for the buffalo.
It goes without saying that at nearly 70 YO it would be lump sum. I'd load up on GOLD.
That 10 million dollar1794 silver dollar comes to mind
I'd be off to 1792 Half Disme City!
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
Set up an auction house with an 8% buyers fee and no sellers fee. Use a credit card and the fee drops to 6%
Everything above plus more, a lot more.
I'm with Dimeman...a nice "everyman" set...of course if you do have one of each, would it still be an everyman.
I would invest in real estate, mutual funds, and bonds. I wouldn't buy a single coin with it.
LIAR!
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
Well I might splurge a little if the Legend 1794 silver Dollar came up for auction.
Around these parts, folks would say 'if I won the Lottery, I would just keep farmin' until the money was all gone in ten years or so!'.
Sounds like you intend to do the same thing, only with a numismatic auction house.
That kind of wealth would change perspective and interests enormously.
Lance.
Top drawer Chain Cent
1794 dollar
King of Siam Proof Set if it ever became available.
I'd live modestly like I do now, I'm content, really don't need anything.
It's nice having things as long as things don't have you.
I would join Anaconda and his "FRIENDS" IN COSTA RICA
You know, I'd build a beach house with an enviable numismatic library since I love reading about coins. And by library I mean both the books and the library room. Comfy chairs for visitors, great natural lighting, viewing table, etc.
Change my phone number.
Be a "Secret Santa" the rest of my life.
And keep collecting pennies.
R.I.P Son 1986>2020
I like this thread!
I would buy rolls of silver eagles and spend them at face ...imagine how confused everyone would be. I'd probably get arrested because I would be accused of passing off fake currency, lol
It wouldn't change mine! Some of those coins in XF45 would be pricey.
I 'd buy my way into PCGS or NGC and write/research coin dies all day. A million should be enough for me to write my own ticket.
Then I'd do a class at Summer Seminar. CAC would be more fun but NJ SUCKS! The worst state I've ever lived it so that's out.
All the 18th century gold, silver and copper I could get my hands on.
That is of course after the island purchase and setting up the relatives.
high grade, early gold.
I'd buy a chain of islands accessible only by floatplane, call it The Renwich Islands. I'd buy TDN's stash. Grow pineapples.
ed4sp
wow! I was just talking about this today!
I would build my Early Gold Type Set in better grades!!
I don't know that I would do anything drastic right away. (Buy new car, house, etc)
Would take a table at the next regional show with a makeshift "Top prices paid!" cardboard sign and see what walks up.
What he said.
Well, somebody in Mass is a lot happier tonight....won't get much sleep I suspect.
bob:)
PS: I'm in NV
I would move onto other hobbies.......like ordering up a 2018 Ferrari Portofino for starters. I would live life to the fullest. Maybe collect women. Full lusters.
Coins would not be a primary focus. As stated in an earlier thread, that much money - suddenly - brings a plethora of issues that must be addressed. After that, a sizeable segment of philanthropy would be my priority. After that, some personal measures of comfort. Then, after all the 'dust' settles, a couple of nice firearms and coins....An Octagonal PanPac for a pocket piece perhaps...
Cheers, RickO
I concur with the octagon Pan Pac. Maybe drill a hole through it and put on my key chain. Because why not?
Check out my iPhone app SlabReader!
You could pretty much do whatever you wanted to [within reason] AND still collect coins.
I'd buy a new pulley to fix the lawn tractor. LOL. Numismatically, id probably hire a couple cherrypickers to do their thing in the shop
First I would need stilt house in LA w basement room for large safe. It Upper floors good views of city and oceanz. Next wb high end car, Blonde Cali girl sugar baby.
I would not keep much in coins at house but use SDB's. I would want 100 nice PCGS DE, about 20 MS 69 PCGS AGB, and some select USGTC. No expensive rarities just bulk up on nice stuff. Bulk of money invested in stocks, bonds, Real Estate - ranch in Montana, properties in Florida. Would buy SB nice car, spoil her w gifts, travel. Would want blonde, Cali girl, around 20-25 like one I saw while waiting in cable car line in SF not too long ago. She was there w shopping bags then Guy about my age walked up to w some more shopping bags. No he was not her Dad lol. Coins - not much use for them if I have $700 M lol. Been there done that.
my collecting ideas wouldn't change one bit, i'd still look though change and buy whatever caught my notice within my budget of $150.00 for coins and banknotes
see that amount of money would be used to pay off credit card bills, fix the house up, help my family out when needed, but as for coins and such nothing would change from what i'm doing now
@3keepSECRETif2rDEAD asked:
Glad you asked:
Minus: Restrictive gun laws, jug handles, v. high taxes, snow, bad drivers.
Plus: Snow, many of the people, Jersey tomatoes, train to NYC, and...all those little towns with a completely different atmosphere. Oh, and the pizza.
