NEWP an unusual Trade Dollar

Unusual in a good way. Ever since I purchased a proof Trade Dollar awhile back I wanted to add a business strike. I was always taught the best time to buy something is when you see it . When this popped up on the Legend site I couldn't get to George fast enough.
I've never seen a business strike that displayed such cameo contrast. It really looks like a proof. A bit of an anomaly. Two sided PL to boot.
Still need to find my real unicorn. A true cameo proof Walker

That's the "Broken Arrows" variety, too. Look at the shafts on the top and bottom arrows. On more circulated examples, the arrow shafts virtually disappear. Nice pick-up!!!

Tleverage's coin has a great look to it also. Maybe what we see in Liberty's lap is "contra-coup" effect from the chop on the rev? Looks like it lines up to me.

The marks you see on the obverse are damage from the single reverse chop bleeding to the opposite side, as @kaz suggested. I have not been able to identify or translate the chop.

What's the chance of posting another image of your coin showing a mirror surface like the PL reverse on the coin below?
I would have thought to be better than 65+. Perhaps hairlines on the reverse limited the grade?

Sorry I don't have a photo set up. These are quick IPad pics. I took a grand total of two pics on the IPad and these are them. Let me know the next show you will be at and I'll bring it. Nothing beats seeing a coin in hand. And yes the REVERSE on Boilers coin has more contrast. By the way Boiler has a world class collection and is a world class guy to boot. I love the coin he posted.and would have considered it as well.

It's funny you say that as hairlines are normally associated with proofs. Yes, the mirrors accentuate any marks. 65+ seems appropriate. There are 8 coins graded numerically higher but I like the attributes of this coin more then most of those.

This variety is discussed in a Gobrecht Journal article (Issue#65 3/96) by Tom Delorey. I don't have a scanner to post the article.
I'll do my best to fill in
One of the master dies got damaged causing damage to the arrows. The mint trying to repair the master die with a renewed impression is what brought about the more know 78-s doubled die rev. The mistake happened when they used a slightly different family of hubs causing a mis-alignment of many of the details.
Not a perfect shot of the arrows but you can see in the close up box the broken parts of the shafts under the new lines

Pretty sure that is the 77s DDR, OriginalDan and I saw at Baltimore a couple of years ago. It is single-handedly the finest non-proof I have ever held in hand. The rev is full DMPL and better than most proofs i have seen. It is clear the Sanfran mint was perfecting the die finishing techniques that led to so many DMPL Morgans in the coming years.

Great coins from everyone. I used to be so in love with PL aspects on Trade Dollars. Too bad that I only do Dark Side now, but threads like this surely tempt me mightily.
And, yes, @boiler78 is a great guy with a great collection. Back in the day, he used to show me his newps and they were always trophy pieces.
