David Hall wouldn't need to send his coins to CAC. He has people working for him to handle tasks such as that.

Maybe you can be sure no DHRC coins have been to CAC and you can buy them, get them stickered and get a higher price for them. hmmm ....

How about this. Did you find any CAC in Legend's auction of HRH's $10 collection sold two years ago

I like how David Aker's coins get stickered for a stamp of approval and most everybody on the PCGS board of experts consult with John Alabanse but so many here cant stand the thought of a second opinion. I try to wrap my head around it but I can't. I'll try some more.

I've never put down a coin without a sticker and I've bought coins without stickers. The market rewards coins with stickers. Are we making any headway?

:) It may be a trollish question, but interesting none the less. If you would try to cross an NGC coin to PCGS because the market reward PCGS coins more, why wouldn't you want to pick through DHRC and send them to CAC?

Of note, a number of the coins in the Don Willis Colonial Collection currently at Heritage are stickered. I'm not sure if the rest are qualified to be stickered. I would at least recommend getting a PCGS reholder with a provenance, e.g. a Don Willis or HRH provenance on the slab would be cool!

Wouldn't that be akin to Mark Salzburg crossing his personal collection from NGC to PCGS before selling it?

According to Mark, the coins should definitely upgrade. :D

I think it's more akin to wanting to get higher prices for coins in your own slab, e.g. PCGS+CAC for HRH, NGC+CAC for Mark.

In today's market, CAC brings more money and it's still their slab, so I don't see why not.

Check out the PCGS+CAC coins from the Don Willis collection being sold now. It would have been easy to have them reholdered with new numbers without stickers, but the stickers are there. Of note, none of them are NGC ;)

I bet he sends them to NGC.

    Don't quote me on that.

:smiley: I like to get the opinion of the series experts. On the 1804 thread I started, some very very knowledgeable people provided insight that only they would know after having studied them. You do have to respect the monetary value of the slab/sticker (opinion). It can't be ignored.

I do not see why Mr. Hall would not send them to get stickered, it's not a conflict of interest or anything. Now, if he sent them to another TPG then that would be a problem.

He'd be very foolish not to, if he wants to maximize his return when he sells in today's market.

Simple fact in today's market... CAC stickered coins bring a premium.... No matter one's personal opinions, the fact cannot be denied. Cheers, RickO

Don't c any reason he would - expense (additional cost to be recovered by business), CAC more for the end user. Nor do they need CAC input on grading.

There may be certain issues above a certain price point they might but I believe this wb reviewed on individual basis as per current market conditions / marketing strategy

If a potential buyer thinks a coin is a dog or will not pay premium (above non CAC price) sticker useless. I run into many on bourse who will not pay money to recover CAC coin additional cost.

i remember walking by david hall's table at long beach once and over heard some customer saying something to the effect of:

"i want to talk to david hall. he said these coins were gem but they came back as cleaned from pcgs!!'

I'm curious, not that it is any of my business, who is wealthier as you can check with some celebrities online? My guess is JA with his hand in founding the competing grading service and now cac.

Or he bought them in spite of the sticker and not because of it.
