DOWNGRADED to a newp....

Yep, goin' backwards here, boss.

I had an XF40 that I never really cared for. Just didn't....like.. it. :/

So I sold it through auction and got it out of my system.

BUT.... I like that silly Off Center bust so much that I had to get another.

This time the newp is VF30

And just slightly over HALF the price of the XF. PLUS I find it perfectly satisfactory as a "keeper."

Coin junkies are nuts. :D

    I like the second one better also.

    To help you feel less 'nuts', I paid nearly double to get a slightly LOWER grade 1821 large cent for my collection....but the new one has nicer surfaces and a more pleasing medium brown color, that is unusual for coins of this date. And I still have the first one, because I...just...can't...seem to sell any of my better large cent duplicates.

    I like the off-center 1795 dollar because it was probably the first Draped Bust coin. I've tried to buy one, but it's always been too much money or not quite right for the grade.

    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    Maybe just not "worth" the extra 3 grand over #2.

    Either one would be nice, although I can appreciate the financial sense in the lesser grade...they are both really nice!

    Both coins are nice, but I can understand why you did it. The VF just looks more original.

    Idk if it's the way the devices just pop on the lower grade example, but I have to agree that the second coin looks more original and has better eye appeal. I would love either one., If truth be told.

    I just like them both... would be very happy with the second one as well.... but see nothing 'bothersome' about the first. Cheers, RickO

    It was an "in hand" thing. And just bothered....me. It's a nice coin for someone else.
    I don't regret changing.

    I did essentially the same thing with a Capped Bust Eagle.
    A 62 ...."bothered" me so I sold it and now have a 45 that is more satisfying.

    Second coin has better eye appeal, you made a good choice.
