I ran into the same thing when I was shopping for an 1839-C quarter eagle. I saw five or six pieces to which NGC had assigned grades ranging from AU-58 to MS-62. Each one had been made shine like a headlight. I don’t understand why NGC does this. Their graders need to learn to “Just say NO!!!”
