The BST Forum etiquette?!?

This isn't an offer to buy or sell anything so don't blast me for using this forum! I recently sold an item to another member of the BST forum. It was paid for, I shipped the coins with a signature required. The coins were delivered Wednesday but I haven't heard from the buyer!! Do I assume the buyer is satisfied since he hasn't reached out? I would hope a buyer would at least confirm their satisfaction? Just curious!
What we've got here is failure to communicate.....

Yes, I usually send a thanks email after receiving an item, maybe he's not had a chance yet.

I think the buyer should acknowledge they received the coin alright, but it's not necessary.
Think of how many times buyers on eBay don't leave FB.
I think that it is good etiquette to respond with an email when you get a piece through the mail. I sometimes wait until the next day because when I'm not 100% sure about a piece, I like to sleep on it, but you really should respond within 24 hours.
The buyer should always let the seller know once the merchandise arrives. It's just good manners and common courtesy.

Unfortunately common courtesy isn't required. I've learned that a lot lately. If its something that's not required people just don't give a rats @ss.
I spell it out for them when I do a deal.
I always notify the buyer when an item has shipped, and request that they notify me when they receive it and if they are satisfied. 90%+ of the time they do so, and I have had a lot of transactions with a lot of different members over the years. If they don't, I assume no news is good news, and that they are busy with numerous transactions and other things in their life.
While it is good form to let the sender know within a day or so, there are reasons they may not have said anything (I have been impacted by all of these):
So, while it is etiquette and nice to do so, there may be reasons.
For me, I had this happen to me this past week.....forum member (Lance) was being super kind and cool and sent me something. It arrived while I was out of town driving to the hospital my mother was just admitted at. Wife put the mail aside for me. Took me about 3 days or so to get back home, when she stabilized, and try to catch up on bills and other mail. I was barely, if even, online, during that time....even by phone. I was physically and mentally exhausted (still am).
Lance never bugged me about it and I did, eventually, open the package and see it was from him, and let him know I received it. I had to drive back over on Wednesday as well.
So, I would suggest not worrying about it. If you haven't heard, either they like it or something came up on their end that preempts many things.

If you sold a relatively low-value item to a dealer, keep in mind that they're probably buying dozens of coins per week - might have slipped his mind. In your case, no news is probably good news.
In general, I think the seller carries the greater responsibility when it comes to communication. I like to include an invoice or at least copy of the PMs, send tracking numbers as soon as I have them, confirm delivery, and communicate to make sure they like it once it arrives.
If I have not heard from the buyer, I typically will just leave a follow up PM. I usually will state something like, "I see that the coin I sold you has arrived, I hope it arrived without any issues and I hope you are happy with it. If not please feel free to contact me."
It's just a simple follow up and they can either respond or not, I won't harass them. I figure if something went bad, they'd certainly let me know.
I "think" I owe some feedback for an Ebay sale now that you mention it (i'll have to check).
I ALWAYS leave some kind of response either way. I treat people the way I like to be treated.
I now feel badly. I didn't think sellers really cared after the item shows as delivered by USPS. Mea culpa. I'm sorry to anyone offended. I've never purchased anything with a long return privilege from a collector so I didn't think it mattered. In fairness, very few actually send me PMs whenever I have sold either.
I usually leave a note saying I got it, but I'm sure I've missed a few. Shew, think about if you had to leave a note every time you buy on amazon or something, lol!
There's a big difference between buying a coin from a fellow forum member and from a large faceless corporation such as Amazon. When I buy a coin from a coin dealer I always thank him.

I always acknowledge receipt of an item from a forum member or personal interface elsewhere. I do not, of course, acknowledge receipt of commercial purchases from vendors. As Ron has stated though, there could be valid reasons for not being able to respond in a timely manner. Cheers, RickO
It's "vacation season" so I keep that in mind.
If you wanted feedback you could have emailed or messaged the buyer privately. Bringing it out in the public forum would definitely make me think twice about buying again. When I sell, no news is good news.

Go on ebay and see if what you sent is up there...if it is, person may be trying to resell for a profit, quickly, or else return it

I try to send the seller an acknowledgement whenever I receive the coins. Unfortunately, my busy schedule sometimes does not allow me to get to it quickly or I simply forget. I have never been offended whenever the seller sends me a PM asking if I was satisfied.
I didn't call anyone out! I haven't sold much on the BST Forum, so I was just curious about what is "standard procedure" Good point about NOT calling someone out though. BTW, the recent buyer did notify me that their item was received and acceptable!

Since I sell to people I know, or who are approved by people I know, they get the coin on approval.
So it is important to let me know you got the coin as I have nothing in hand to show for it until you send payment.
Why? This eliminates the hassle of swapping payment back and forth if the coin turns out to not be suitable for the buyer. I'd rather not exchange checks and tie up their money or time. If they honestly don't like the coin, I always offer to pay return postage fees. Only one time did someone tell me they disliked the coin I sent them on approval and returned it (it was CAC'd by the way). A year or two later they told me they did because they were angry with me for other reasons.
