They did. I hate a thin layer of plastic between my fingers and metals! I have sold literally tens of thousands of dollars worth of metals at various local coin shops and shows....I have never seen a different set of prices between wrapped and unwrapped bullion other than for specific gold coins. Even if there were a .25/oz difference in price, its worth the $40 loss to be able to really appreciate what I own.

Close....50 bars or 5 kilos, or just a hair over 160 ounces. Last thing I want to see is a $200 silver!!! Im a net buyer for at least the next 7-10 years! I actually root for the dips right now.

HOLY GEIGER! I too am a fan of geigers and want to get the whole set.........50 gram, 100 gram, 10 oz, 500 gram, 1 kilo, etc

Are those Geigers or Geckers or are they one and the same?

  • Options

For all of you who are talking about putting together a complete set.......don't forget there is a 5 kilo bar as well! :#

1 kilo is about the absolute max size im comfortable with in silver. If silver ever does run up to over $100, your avenues of selling anything larger begin shrinking exponentially.

On this type of stuff, it hardly matters. Don't believe me? Take 2 identical, COMMON silver bars.....one wrapped, one unwrapped....to your local dealer sometime to sell. See if he offers more on the wrapped one.

But what about ebay you say? Look up the recent AUCTION results on this particular bar. You will notice something very odd. The most recent 5 bars sold in auction for both wrapped and unwrapped average selling prices are $76.20 for UNWRAPPED, vs just $69.40 for sealed ones.

Care to reevaluate your position on this one Bajjer?

Damn right they are ugly in the shrink wrap! Let those babies out and actually enjoy them! They are simply gorgeous without the plastic.

But that doesn't even worry me.....a quick dip in Tarnex solves that anyway.

Nope. Did it mostly to yerk a chain LOL. FWIW, IMO a few examples do not a trend make. Just because it doesn't matter to you, doesn't mean that it may not matter to others. Food for thought. If it was of no consequence why do they all go to the extry hassle to wrap em?

IMO if someone can use them being unwrapped as an excuse to offer less, then they probably will.

I own a few bars which are just bars. They came wrapped and I see no reason to unwrap them in order to fondle, caress or hold them close to my heart. they'll stay wrapped until some owner down the line thinks that they should be set free. All things being equal, I'd prefer to wrap those rascals.

The OCD in me prevents me from ever getting one because of the uneven number of slots in the middle rows.

No box. But.....the 50 bars fit so perfectly inside a Winchester/Cabelas .22 ammo wood box with sliding top, that it doesn't even matter to me.

Can you imagine how cluttered this PM forum would be if everyone created their own personal "look what I bought today" thread? Why this isn't in the weelky Metal Porn thread is beyond my comprehension

Of course the difference is that my thread is meant to share with the group, while your thread is self serving and meant for your own personal gain. You aren't very smart, are you?

As I expected, a lame excuse.
Then you can "share" like the rest of us in the weekly metal porn thread. You aren't very bright are you?

Last time I checked, threads are free. i dont think we will run out anytime soon. people can make as many as they like, as long as they are within the parameters set forth by the site mods.

When im reading a thread I don't care for. I just click the "back" button and move on to the next one.
