An Amazing NEWP. Toned Early Gold

It has been a long long time since I have made a major purchase for the collection, but when I saw this coin show up on Doug Winter's site, I felt as if I almost had no choice at all, but to act. I have reached the point in my collecting career, not my dealing career, but my collecting career, where really nothing much excites me any more.

I feel as if this coin market, like much of the world, is on a knife's edge and stretching for coins, in many cases is not advisable. So much of what I see, day after day and show after show, are widgets.

Combined with the fact that I am very happy with every single coin in my collection, there never seems any real drive to buy something new. Unless, it is very special.

The draped bust left half eagle series, is not really that rare. Coins, even in this grade of MS63, can be had with relative ease. Many of you know that i have been collecting this series on and off since 2004 looking for the perfect coins. Finding them virgin original, with color is very difficult. Even though this is outside of my desired grade of XF/AU, it has the look and fabric that is just so very tough to find. The coin has nice flash, coppery and dusky toning and marks that are in line with a 63 grade. It really has a gemmy beautiful aesthetic. Very happy to share this with the forum and to add to the core collection as a box of 20 coin.

As with all my posts, feel free to share your Bust Left Halves and their stories. Enjoy and happy collecting!
