It's an oddball in the 200+sets I just pulled from the BSD....any background on why these are different (flag)

Looks like somebody - after market - put together sets using a heat sealing machine.

I agree that it is an after-market set. I would expect no real added value over the value of the coins.

Yeah, the cello looks suspect (the seal between the coins from the mint is textured, not smooth), but I have a few souvenir sets that look a lot like that. (The ones bought at the mint store at the mints.) The big difference is the mint ID is a token, not paper, and the coins in the set are exclusive to the mint it came from. But hey, silver is silver! ;)

Thanks and just had never seen this set before (memory fades).

PS: the coins in this set far surpass the Mint issued 57's that I have.

It is not a U.S. Government issue. The 1957 mint sets came in pink cardboard holders. It was the only year the mints did that.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

I don't know about the set but the nickel seems to have some nice toning going on.

I Appreciate that. you were MIA lately and I missed your cheerleading and repetitive rhetoric.

And Bob those are some nice looking coins. So whomever repackaged them, it appears they picked out some high end examples.
