4523 in the '09 ASE "proofing" but they sure don't seem to come up as commonly as that = I would have guessed half that number.

Yeah but his is the much more rare die pair 2 "thick" DC version with less than 400 produced. I've been looking for one of those for a while.

Can someone explain to me the reason why most of Mr. Carr 's coins are marked "Sold Out" instead of "Discontinue"? I can understand if the coins may be restock again. But I haven't seem any with the coins that caught my eyes.

Mighty fine pieces posted here. I took a break from coins in 2015 and 2016 and some of the best pieces were made. What's the old saying....you snooze you lose? With a little luck it won't happen in 2017.

It could be said that most of Dan Carr's pieces are relatively low in mintage, but what is the cut-off for "rare"? I believe the lowest production that I have seen in this thread was seven (2015 Octagonal Gold). Nice pieces everybody!

Anybody else notice his signature in the ANACS slabs are now printed instead of actually signed. That kinda bummed me out on the first I saw.

The 1964 Matte Proof Peace $ I own is my favorite by a point or two, 152 minted.
I have multiples of many of his works, not to sell, (I never sell) but as possible trade for something I don't have.
D.CArr's work is really taking off, cool to be in at the ground floor.

Wow. That seated gold does look like an auto-pen signature. Wonder what's up with that

    From the ANACS website...

NOTE: Starting in 2017, for Moonlight Mint issues, ANACS will imprint a “Daniel Carr” signature onto the labels using a rubber stamp provided by Daniel Carr.
For Moonlight Mint items that are not marked “Clark Gruber”, a special ANACS label will be used which features a Moonlight Mint logo and a hand-written signature by Daniel Carr. All submitted items that are marked “Clark Gruber” will receive a special Clark Gruber logo label.

It seems that the NOTE: cancels the previous hand written signature, so If you have the hand signed paper certificate, I would NOT recommend sending the original to ANACS. Send them a copy, as you may or may not receive the original back.

Well I can't say I didn't see something like this coming with the growing popularity. I can only imagine the time it takes and hand cramps Dan gets sitting there signing 1000 or more labels at a time to send to anacs.

That statement is kind of confusing though. Is it saying that ONLY Clark Gruber issues are auto stamped and the rest is hand-signed? Maybe I'm reading it wrong.

I will call ANACS and ask. My guess is that neither Moonlight Mint nor Clark Gruber issues will continue to have actual signatures.

Rare in any sense that involves mintages is kind of meaningless if nobody cares.

I have several technically "rare" pieces but without the proper marketing, nobody cares.

IMO the ONLY rare piece that Daniel Carr has produced is the 1964-D Peace Dollar overstrike as it consistently bring higher values over its original purchase price.

The Clark Gruber labels were never signed. Up through the end of 2016, the Moonlight Mint labels were hand signed. Now those have a printed signature. Yes, it was quite an ordeal to sign a whole roll of labels. I'd rather spend that time designing/sculpting/engraving/minting new items. With many other projects (not work related) that I have to do this year, it is a relief to not have to sign them.

Well shoot. I have about 200 Dan carr coins I was going to get graded. If the signatures aren't real, I may need to rethink that. Dang it!
