It is actually the soap box that posed the greatest risk of damage to your coin due to residual molecules of the soap product. Be grateful that there was one more barrier between it and your coin. Hyper sensitive individuals cannot even walk down a soap aisle in a supermarket without their respiratory systems reacting to the "gassing" of chemicals from the soap products.
I'm not worried about what soap will do to gold. I'm worried about what all diseases this weirdo has and possibly transferred to the condom box while he was getting the condoms out.
Aww yes the ever elusive Gold Mercury Condom Dollar
I would never use a condom containing mercury which is toxic.

I wouldn't complain about it. Many years ago, someone I used to know got mad at someone and actually sent him a t u r d in the mail. He didn't realize that it was a felony to do so at the time.

Sounds gross but bacteria that cause STD need 80% temperature and moisture and it really works out that your kitchen faucet and saliva (many fewer pathogens than other bodily fluids) are more of a health hazard.
Even so, the thought of your delivery is pretty gross
If not for the fact that you already had a history with the coin I would have been worried that he was subtly telling you that you got screwed on the deal.

I think it was a hint that he thought HE got screwed. But maybe I am looking into it too much. But then again, WHY would anyone ship that way?!

They knew it would provide us so much entertainment. That or Ron Jeremy was the seller.
Now, every time you look at this coin you will think about...........
You must sell it.
Or, better yet, return it to seller.
You have 14 days to think about what kinds of boxes you may want to use.
Dirty... Who puts packages together with rubber gloves on... People have dirty hands all the time... Do you worry about dollar bills? Most have been in strippers butts!

It certainly is unique, however, although a bit out of the ordinary, really, it is just another box - no more, no less. Good for a little bit of humor...... Cheers, RickO
Unless you could prove that the box was contaminated, there is probably no restriction for sending the empty box any more than there would be for sending something in an empty box that once had a tube of toothpaste in it. Of course sending the used "item" would be something different. I expect that some send "used" underclothing though the mail all of the time.
I admit, if I got like 1000 empty condom boxes, they'd become my box of choice for shipping...
1000 empty condom boxes? You would have no time to post here and would deserve a trophy.
Or syphilis. Nothing is 100%.
Did I really need to put the word "unused" in there?
Let's see... 1000 boxes, that's 12,000 condoms... Sheesh. That's take me more than 3 years to collect that many used condom boxes... (And yes, that's a joke too, for the humor impaired. Once a knight, always a knight but twice a night might kill me...)

Was the coin in a slab?
I hope so.

They are just filled with rubbers. They are safe. I would not worry about it. Just don't hold the box (or coin) up to a black light.
The box was most definitely for a slab.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

Good thing come is small packages
just could not resist
I guess he just wanted to make sure it arrived safely, with a low risk of breakage.
Silly seller believes the coin would be shinier with a box that came with lubricant.
I love reusing shipping materials, but this one takes the cake!

Sounds like someone you pissed off.
This explains the rub.

Hope it wasn't ribbed as that would surely put a rub on the coin
A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.
A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.
Since it was a $2 1/2 Indian (male on coin), it sure wasn't for her pleasure.
Its not like you use the box anyways... If you are worried about germs. At least he did not ship it in a toilet paper roll

Well, you usually only get condoms out when you are um.... in the process? So ya, I would say there was a good chance it was dirty.

There are restrictions on what can be mailed too, not sure if that applies: https://www.usps.com/ship/shipping-restrictions.htm But how often does that get enforced?

With the packaging in this manner could it be there was an air of "condom"scending?
