Real or Counterfeit 1909-S VDB Lincoln?

It is a legit 1909 cent, but has the S mintmark been added? I've compared it to the known mintmark locations, and it seems in line with one of them, but I'm not certain. Thanks for any opinions!

I think that whole thing is a counterfeit. The "V.D.B." letters look to be poorly spaced and too thin. The obverse letters and rim look look like they are too high. The brown to black toning looks like it's been sprayed on.

The "s" looks mis-shapen as well

The V in VDB appears to be substantially different. The period beside the V is close to where it should be. I don't think I have seen an S mintmark like yours. Yours has machine doubling that I haven't seen on an SVDB before.

The 1909-S VDB has strong serifs on the S. The coin pictured by the O.P. does not.
The 1909-S VDB normally has all periods present, i.e., V.D.B. The 1909 VDB from the Philadelphia Mint often is missing some of the periods in the VDB.
    Therefore, I vote counterfeit.

    I am wholly unreliable here

I only observe that the 'D' in 'GOD' appears to be sagging out of line.

    Anyone else agree?

On genuine coins, the top serif of mintmark is spaced well below the "toe" of both 9's. The coin presented by the OP has the top of the mintmark aligned with the "toe" of both 9's. Forgery.

I don't believe the coin would pass. Send it in and you might get lucky with a mechanical error. :D

The reverse VDB image is inconclusive as I cannot ascertain the periods locations after the D. B.
