Always nice to fulfill a dream. I see you have not added them to your seated set yet.

(and out of curiosity, why no 70-CC. )

Well done. And while most non-seated people won't appreciate the mottled and streaky toning on these babies....I love it. Did the last guy sell off the 70-cc when the set was in "temporary" hands...or a deal fell through once the 70-cc was handed off?

Congrats Bruce! The previous owner knows they're going into a great set. These have always been 2 of my favorite Seated dollars.

    Great coins!

Not that it really matters, but will you keep the "Ebsen" pedigree on the 52?

The '51 is superb. A definite upgrade to your previous MS64 coin.

The '52 has negative eye appeal to me (based on that image)...I much prefer the MS64 you had; all of this realizing the mintage is extremely low. Of course, my opinions are just that -- opinions...and they are based on PCGS photos (which may or may not look like the coin in hand).

    Congrats! :+1:

As an aside, I paid nearly triple PCGS priceguide. You almost always have to step up for the great coins.

Is this the correct value or owner knew you wanted them bad enough to pay off his house?

Congrats on getting them for insanely bad a$$ set

Personally I'd note the Ebsen pedigree. I think that adds extra cool factor to an already awesome piece. Congrats on the pickups.

I asked because Ebsen was a minor consignor to the "Ebsen" sale, and the 1852 was almost certainly not his. If the coin were mine, I wouldn't want his name on the holder for that reason. But it hardly matters.

a display that still remains in my memory - and probably will for many
years. Superb collection and congratulations on your two newps; both

A bit of both. I always figured the two coins at $250k each despite the old price guide of $125k each. And then I had to step up one more multiple to make the seller part with two of his favorites

I bought a coin that I thought was an upgrade but when the set was sold was in the wrong holder for the purchaser. It was sold off and they never found a replacement before I bought the set back.
