Well done. And while most non-seated people won't appreciate the mottled and streaky toning on these babies....I love it. Did the last guy sell off the 70-cc when the set was in "temporary" hands...or a deal fell through once the 70-cc was handed off?

The '51 is superb. A definite upgrade to your previous MS64 coin.
The '52 has negative eye appeal to me (based on that image)...I much prefer the MS64 you had; all of this realizing the mintage is extremely low. Of course, my opinions are just that -- opinions...and they are based on PCGS photos (which may or may not look like the coin in hand).

Personally I'd note the Ebsen pedigree. I think that adds extra cool factor to an already awesome piece. Congrats on the pickups.

Nah - I know it was not a name sale
I asked because Ebsen was a minor consignor to the "Ebsen" sale, and the 1852 was almost certainly not his. If the coin were mine, I wouldn't want his name on the holder for that reason. But it hardly matters.

A bit of both. I always figured the two coins at $250k each despite the old price guide of $125k each. And then I had to step up one more multiple to make the seller part with two of his favorites

It was sold off and they never found a replacement before I bought the set back.
