Yeah. That last field goal looked like it was swinging too far left but hooked right at the last second

    Was a good game?
I thought the last field goal was going to miss after dallas called time prior to the prior snap and dead center shot, but it just cleared the upright

Terrific game played by both teams, offensively, at least. Defensively, not so much.

Boy, Rodgers is money in the clutch. That was one amazing catch by Cook. Crosby was clutch, too.

I'm trying to think of a coin comparison to the Cowboys' playoff ineptitude since '95....it would no doubt be a very expensive coin, perhaps even with some special toning and impressive luster.....but can't straight grade to save its life.

Although my Lion's disappointed me, again... At least bandwagons #1 and #2 globally of the Seahawks and Cowboys are out too.

That catch by Cook and a similar one earlier by Randall Cobb on the sidelines had Jordy Nelson written all over both of them.

Edited to add: and the Cowboys just about "iced" that last field goal

Being in Dallas, but not a Cowboys fan, what you did not see was after the game, the stadium was basically locked down, as we had SEVERE weather roll through, with a series of tornadoes rolling up right through the area where the stadium is located. Not bad ones, unless you were in it. We are getting 65 - 70 mph winds right now, and the Arlington area, where the stadium is located, has some 3" in 1 hour rain deluge.

Bubba's boys got bumped. Why can't the Texans ever get a QB like Farve or Rogers? We are o for 8 since the team formed with QBs. Green Bay was without their two best receivers and beat Dallas on the road. The Pack was the best team. I have to give the Dallas offensive line credit as no one else does. They make the Cowboys go. I may live in Texas but the way Jones treated a class act like Tom Landry when he bought the team still makes me love to see the boys get second place in every game they play. Sorta like the Red Socks trading the Babe. This will hang over the Cowboys for decades.

I grew up in Racine in the Lombardi era. In those days most games were not on TV so it was mostly radio. Been a great ride.

But this game was one of the greats - almost as good as the Ice Bowl.

That reminds me - time for some cheese curds today....to celebrate.

The Packers earned that win big time. The field goal was awesome, but they had to do it twice, the Cowboys were sleazy to call a timeout as the field goal was being kicked.

  • clarkbar04clarkbar04 Posts: 4,987 ✭✭✭✭✭

I don't think the timeout before the FG is "sleazy", you can see the ref come on the field before the ball is snapped, but in the noise the center didn't hear it.

It has been proven that it does not increase the chances of a miss, so one can argue it is a waste of time. Where it didn't help and ACTUALLY happened this season was where the timeout was called and the play happened as it did last night, and the kicker missed the FG. But, it was nice of the opposing team coach to give the redo as the next one was made.

I had no doubt the 'boys would find its way through our defense eventually. What I don't like is the capers zone defense package once we get up a few scores.

Would have been nice to hear matthews or peppers names mentioned a few times. Boy did Clay ever get a big grasp of AIR on that spin move!

Dallas is too inconsistent. They have to give up more 3rd and longs than anyone else in the conference.

How often does icing a kicker actually work? They should get rid of that crap. Or make it a 5 yard delay of game penalty.

I don't remember which game it was but earlier this year my son and I watched a D1 college game where they did the same thing. Just a few seconds left and the opposing coach called time out a split second before the snap. Kick went off anyway and missed. So they got another chance and made it the second time around for the win. So can work both ways sometimes. Garrett made the right call as ya gotta try something!

Great game and even though I live in the DFW area not a Cowboys fan, too much drama over the years.

It will be an interesting game in Atlanta. The Green Bay pass defense is going to have to step it up if they are going to go the Super Bowl. The Atlanta quarterback and receiving corp might be too much for them. Aaron Rogers is great, but he can't do it alone as was shown when Green Bay gave up an 18 point lead.

Good game, GB. Three games left, final playoffs + SB.

It's time for ball. NU pounded Iowa while the NFL reigned, McIntosh put on a clinic of how to attack a zone defense. NU 89 - Iowa 54.

What have we learned so far? Texans need a qb. Brady is Brady, Rogers is Rogers and maybe the two best to ever play the game. D has one of the two next great young qb's. GB and D can play an epic game that will be talked about as well, epic, for decades. Many a Dallas resident told me at FUN that they had tickets and hotel reservations already for the Superbowl here in H-Town. Looks like thems tics are going on the auction block.

I was at the Illinois-Iowa game earlier this year. Last play of regulation was an Illinois 45 yard attempt with game tied. Iowa had all 3 timeouts left and called them one after the other. Tactical mistake to use them all if you ask me, because they could have caught the Illinois kicking squad by surprise by not calling third timeout. Anyway, the kicker bricked it off the upright, but it wasn't a high percentage try for him in the first place. Iowa went on to win in OT.

I live south of Green Bay. The Packers basically have no secondary left. They have been playing third stringers and undrafted rookies there for the last 2 months. Atlanta's defense may be even worse.

Next week will be a high scoring game. We will see if Rodgers can carry them for 2 more games. Go Pack Go!

As a lifelong Bears fan it is always nice to watch Green Bay lose.

That said it was a classy, smart and safe move by Mike McCarthy to pull the starters with ~2:40 left and run the clock out. He is a good coach.

Nothing left in the tank after the emotional win last week.

That, and the GB secondary is absolutely horrific.

Today marked the end of 25 consecutive seasons of Brett Favre (1992-2007) and Aaron Rodgers (2008-2016) as Green Bay's starting quarterbacks. Two of the greatest of all-time, HOF'ers. Yet only two championships. My god, these playoffs defeats are tough to take. Either getting blown out or losing on the final play. The past decade has been particularly gut wrenching.
