That last medal was struck from newly-engraved dies by Barber in 1876, so truly a Centennial medal. Mint records report that 86 pieces were struck in Bronze. Here is another, still displaying some min red color:

For the Centennial of the Great Seal in 1882, a different medal was produced by the U.S. Mint:

Sometime around 1874 the US Mint in Philadelphia discontinued use of its first steam-powered press. Enter George B. Soley who acquired the press as scrap in 1875. In 1876, at the Centennial Exposition, Soley displayed the press and struck a number of medals and tokens:

Now, for my contribution of an 1876 centennial piece ---

The token takes an interesting perspective on the Centennial, stating "Our 100th Year Begin July 5 1875" That being said, the Centennial Exposition did last quite a long time!

Obtained at the Fair by my Great Grandfather and Great Grandmother....found in their estate. They bought a kitchen stove from a vendor at the fair for their new home being finished in Carson City. The Rinckel Mansion, 1874-1876. You can google for pics and further information.
Proof like surfaces, raw. HK-19 made from Nevada silver shipped to the fair and minted there by the P mint.
