Stopped by Witter Coins in downtown San Francisco today.

I have been wanting to stop by this shop for years, especially since it was sold to a forum member 1-2 years ago. I was in the city today for a meeting and decided to detour to the shop and check it out on my way back to the office. The shop is on the 14th floor of the Hobart Building at Market & Montgomery Street. Easy to get to by BART. The shop has display cases on the floor and on the walls. Raw coins galore, Slabbed coins galore. Books on the hobby. Supplies. I talked with the folks running the shop. Very enjoyable way to spend some time. I bought an AU silver trime to place into my 7070 US Type set album.
If you are in San Francisco and want to have a hobby diversion you should stop by Witter Coins.

Cool! bookmarked.
They are on my favorites list. I check on the site every now and again. Who is the forum member?
As bolivarshagnasty mentioned, who is the forum member and does he post on here often?
Many members on this forum that now it cannot fit in my signature. Please ask for entire list.
It's forum member SethChandler.

Damn - I screwed up. Was just in San Fran for the weekend and forgot about seth's shop
I stopped there about three weeks ago. Had a good conversation with the owners, but just missed some proof Barber & Seated coins that walked out the door the previous week. Definitely stop by if you're in town!
Thanks for the heads up about this. I get into SFO occasionally. Usually in Burlingame but an easy BART ride to the city.

Seth is the man, he has a vision for this shop and is working his tail off to get there.
Stopped by earlier in the year with Crypto79 and spent a few hours talking coins with Seth and the guys who work there. Helped make Cryptos west coast visit a memorable one.
Cool. Witter Coin is first website I've been able to search for coins sorted by grade.
Sounds like a great shop.... next time I hit San Francisco I will make it a point to stop by.... Cheers, RickO
I've been in the shop once myself while I was in SF. Less than a year ago. Those are some great guys who really know and love coins. Seth and Luis are great to talk to for hours. I've made a few purchases from them since, and imagine that will continue.

Sounds like a very nice shop.
Good guys, always great to talk to at shows. Next time I am in SF I would like to see the shop and harass Luis.
I work at the shop with Seth and Luis and appreciate the positive feedback from everyone. We have put a lot of hard work into the shop and continue to look to the future, while keeping the soul of the shop intact. Needless to say, it has been an exciting year and we have developed some great relationships, met some great coin folks, seen countless great coins and had lots of laughs. Forum members please announce yourself when you visit so we can give you a behind the scenes look.

Thank you for the kind words, SanctionII. Sorry that I was not able to meet you - I am usually there for 10 to 15 hours a week, please call the shop (to all PCGS forum members) ahead of time and I will do my best to be there when you arrive. I will make it with your while - some of my private stash will come out! I have got a great team - with Sean and Luis leading the way.
Its a fun place, you would be AMAZED at who and what walks in the door.
I've been meaning to write a long post about what it is like for a collector to take over a coin shop thats been around for over 50+ years. I will make an attempt over the holidays - should be a good read.
Seth
Its likely been over 10 years since I have been there mainly because I don't get to SF too often. It was a fun place then with a lot to look at. Old school and I highly recommend visiting. I have bought wonderful coins there.
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
i would love to hear any stories you have about the store. i took my son there in july 2015 and he said to me, "best coin store ever" when we left. coming from him, that means a lot!
I was there a couple weeks ago. Really nice shop, nice guys and great selection of coins.
I hope to get back there sometime in the near future.
Seth.
Thanks for your reply to my thread. I enjoyed stopping by for the first time. The shop reminds me of coin shops I visited in the 1960's as a kid collector; and reminds me of some coins shops in the Western US that I have visited since I got back into the hobby in 1998 as an adult. I could have spent hours looking through your inventory of coins, currency, books and supplies.
I will definitely plan a return trip when I have more time to snoop.
My thanks to Sean and Luis for taking time to speak with me and showing me multiple trimes from which I picked one for my 7070 Album.

The next time I am in SF, I will have to carve out some time to visit.
Sounds like fun.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. We have worked very hard the last year to preserve the old coin store vibe, while making it our own.
