1802 half dime for my early half dime Red Book set.

1796-7 half dollar for my copper, nickel and silver type set.

Both are big bucks, and the chances of my getting either of them with my present resources are slight unless I sell a quarter of my collection, which means I'd be missing something else.

I've been looking for a 1935-P Buffalo in MS66 to complete my "short set". Unfortunately, it can't be just any MS66. It has to have "the look".

an AU 1893 Morgan is next. Followed by either 1895-O or S to complete a date set of Morgans in AU-BU.

1953-S MS65FBL Franklin, Goodacre 2000-P $, and the 1981-S PR69DCAM Type 2 SBA. First one would make my Franklins a full FBL set but is a Bell line worth $15,000? Second is not a coin your collecting but a signature and I'm waiting for the price to get right. Third I'll probably get in the next couple of weeks they have been trading at below book value lately.
I know you said one or two but this is one coin for three different registry sets.

For my early half dimes, I need only the 1792 half disme and the 1802 Draped Bust half dime. For the grades that would match the other coins in my collection, combined they would be valued at more than my house, so I have elected not to pursue them (unless I win the lottery).

    To complete my set:

1796 half cent - any straight grade
1831 circulation strike half cent - I know who has one and what he wants for it. Sadly, it is not to be....

Those two are long shots - but fortunately there's plenty of other coins I want - some for sets, and some on their own.

A 1793 Liberty Cap cent, and a large bucket of money, will complete my Redbook set of large cents.

1839-C quarter eagle and some other of the "common dates" although some of the Philadelphia Mint pieces are not all that common. Outside of the 1839-C, I've got all of the other rarer ones.

I've long since acquired the two coins in my earlier reply.

These days, I'd like to get a nice 1795-1798 dollar in PCGS F15 or VF20, and an 1822 or 1828 quarter with the 25/50 reverse, ideally with Fine details and a moderate to severe problem.

I bought a 1792 half disme in the early to mid 1990s when they were not as expensive. As for the 1802, the ship has left the port for me. They only straight graded one I've seen that might have fit the upper end of my budget was VF, and I though it had a problem on the reverse. It eventually sold for $139 thousand at an auction. Recently pieces in "details" grade holders have sold for around $90,000 in the major auctions. I won't pay anywhere near that for a "details" coin.

The best 1802 half dime I've ever seen was in a PCGS EF-45 or AU-50 holder. The asking price was $90,000 and that was 30 years ago. At that time it might as well have been $30 million so far as I was concerned.

Lincoln Cent Clips - Want List

    updated: October 6, 2004

any size, position, and condition considered

    1909-P,S-VDB 1912-P 1923-S 1924-S

    1926-S 1931-D,S 1933-D 1938-D

    1939-D 1982 Z,LD-P,D 1982 Z,SD-P,D

    1992-P 1995-D 2002-P 2004-P,D

Funny to see this bumped after all these years. Of the 20 coins on this list, only two are still missing from my set - the 1982 SD zinc and 1982-D LD zinc. You can add the 2006-P cent now too. Those are the only three I need to complete the set through 2008, a neat 100 years.

1/2cents: 1802/0 and 1797 (want 1 over 1). Will never get the 1796 outside of winning a huge lottery (since coins are a discretionary income for me and I have a son entering high school so college isn't too far off).

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Fun thread to see where everyone is at image

I'm missing the 1997 and 2000 proofs from my OGP $50 plat eagle collection. Both are easy enough to find, but am waiting for the price of platinum to drop. In regard to buying the keys first, that's not ALWAYS a good idea, especially with Moderns. Bought my 2004 close to its peak in price and since then it's dropped significantly. And look what prices on Jackies, FDRs, Smithsonians, and most other modern gold commems have done. Yikes!
