Bill Jones' FUN Exhibit on the Dahlonega Mint

Topographicoceans asked me to post this in a PM. Like all of the exhibitors, I spent a lot of time on this, and like most exhibits it only goes up once to be seen and then it comes down perhaps never to be seen again. Perhaps I'm showing too much ego, but here it is. The pieces a bit out of place because I use these the photos in the set-up process, and I'm not as neat about that I should be. At any rate, here it is.

    I'm a little partial to the D-Mint coins being that it's in my home state and the first gold rush. Excellent exhibit and I hope you will continue to display your work for many people to appreciate and educate themselves.

    Here's a laugh.


    I won second place in the U.S. Coins category. One of the judges took off 5 points because I had "too much information." image Some judges drive you absolutely nuts. I guess this that guy preferred to to be uninformed. Other exhibits that won had more words than I did.

    I just recently purchased my first "D" mint coin...an 1842-D $5...and it has been exciting to read about the history of this mint...previously I had no idea...but as the previous poster stated...it's a bit hard to read all the copy from your pictures...if you ever publish your presentation as an e-book...I'd love to read...

    I have them. They just were not out of the bank when I took the pictures.

    Very nice and informative. I got to visit Dahlonega once when my parents lived in northern Georgia for a couple of years. It was a nice place to see.
