Coin shop clerk shoots armed robber

hchcoinhchcoin Posts: 4,843 ✭✭✭✭✭
Heard about this at the local coin club Thursday night. This is why coin shop owners should be armed. I was told that the two crooks entered the shop and locked the door behind them. They were armed with knives and the coin shop clerk shot one of them.

It's unfortunate the thief survived. Hopefully his injuries are quite painful.

    This is a good thing.

Should this recommendation be expanded to more people including teachers and partygoers?

Good point! If you shoot an intruder make sure you kill him.

While Wisconsin doesn’t have a Stand Your Ground law that extends to public spaces, Gov. Scott Walker signed an “intruders bill” in December 2011 that presumes somebody who uses deadly force against a trespasser in their home, business or vehicle acted reasonably, whether or not the intruder was armed. Before the law was enacted, homeowners could only use deadly force if their own lives were at risk.

    Great to read.

however , It is unfortunate that both did not get shot dead. The criminal will be out in a flash
so he can continue his career choice.

thankfully the good guy won this time.

Glad to hear this. The clerk was on his toes. Crime can happen so fast and it's not always the other person, it can happen to you.

Would I do the same thing if I was the shopkeeper, yes I think so. The situation is unfortunate anyway you look at it. The callous attitude towards life in the post above, even that of the perpetrators is also regrettable.

I was called for jury duty last week. One of the many reasons why I didn't get on the panel for a civil case was because I said stuff like this is lunacy. One of the reasons why our justice system is screwed up is because of the politically correct garbage like this. If you come on someone's property to commit a crime, especially a violent crime, you forfeit your ability to sue for damages if you get injured. Getting injured is an occupational hazard if you are criminal.

I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

The clerk is at fault for one thing: Not spending enough time at the practice range.

Agree. These are 18 year-old kids who made poor decisions. Kids. Yes they deserve punishment, and should they have been shot dead they would have paid the price for their stupidity. And in the same situation, I probably also would shoot to kill. But delighting in bodily harm or wishing pain and death is not exactly very mature or humanistic either.

Reported...to a local radio program who has a spot called "Fire Arms Friday", in which they cite articles of incidences in which the good guys come out ahead of crimes against them.

Great to hear the good guy won..... this is the only effective response to crime such

as this... if the perpetrator is armed and threatening, then he deserves the result.

    Cheers, RickO

Nice shooting!! Great to see the good guys come out on top.

Same happened to my folks as some here know in 1982 in Baltimore. My father killed the armed robber who had a loaded gun to my Mom's head.

A knife is a deadly weapon which warrants deadly force. There are many killers who are 18 and younger. The age of the attacker is of no consequence to the victim who may well have otherwise suffered lethal wounds.

    Good!!!!

I'm tired of hearing about the coin dealers who refuse to have a way to defend themselves available and then end up paying for that mistake with their lives!!

Cut their hands off and hang 'em up high in the street to rot like they used to. That will hopefully at least put a thought in their mind that there are actual consequences (besides sitting a little while in jail) of their scumbucket actions and prevent the law abiding citizens from wasting ammo.
