Coin Pairings (Post yours)

I am a believer in coin pairings. For example, I have a fabulous 1848-C $2.5 and $5. Individually they are very cool as part of either a $2.5 or $5 Charlotte set, or as an inclusion into a broad set of rare gold. When paired together I find them to be a mini-collection of their own which is both relevant and special in its own way. Do you have similar pairings?

I am a big fan of the PCGS double holders, here are two of my fav combos.
Same naked eye doubled die obv

Different dramatically different rev die by the MM

And two very early well used New Orleans halves with the same rev style even though they are two different types. The history of these

Here's a couple of 1851 New Orleans coins. One is a $20 NGC AU53 Cac, and the other is a PCGS XF45 CAC.

Al, I really like the look of the 51-O $2.5. Very deep and natural color. Of course the $20 is nice too

1793 Wreath Cent, S-11c ...

1793 Half Cent, C-2 ... the style of the die work looks to be the same, so I'd say that the artwork was done by the same person ...

Both coins were issued in mid summer, 1793 ...

Check out the lettering and style of the artwork on the reverses. Maybe it's more obvious when you see the coins live, but it jumped out at me when I compared the coins side by side, RAW. years ago.

My favorite pair. Being raised in York County, Maine; I wanted toned examples of both of these. They're nice examples to remind me of Maine while I am at school in Florida. Both old holders and both gold cacd.

A couple of my favorite coins. A pair of Obverse Ds. I am sure these two coins made Joseph J Singleton very proud.

Here are two bust half Redbook varieties, the 1814 E/A and 1814/3, in two very different die states (and wear states, of course). I kept the duplicates just because it's fun to compare them.

They're good examples of just how far the early Mint pushed dies before retiring them.

Hoping to one day get an 1828 12-Star half-cent to pair with my 13-Star. That would make an interesting pair.

There are some very cool coins in this thread. And with some very interesting pairings.

I know I am known as a Dahlonega collector but I also have a Commem collection too. The Maine and York pair are very attractive coins.

Canadian Fifty Cents - 1870 LCW and No LCW varieties - problem-free examples of the No LCW are very scarce indeed.
