I used to believe that JA was damn near infallible when it came to detecting PVC on coins.
But I got this one back with a red sticker saying PVC. I do admit the spotting does LOOK like PVC, I don't think it at all likely that CAC is correct. I cut the coin from a cello 1963 mint set, and cellophane does not contain PVC.

Did you actually read what your wrote starting with "but"? That would imply that before the world had "window dressing", coins with superior eye appeal did not fetch stronger prices at auction. In other words, you're building a straw man.
In any case, I feel a little bad about derailing this thread (wasn't really my intent). Enjoy your gold stickers, guys. Just don't hold onto 'em too long if you want to maximize your profits. Long term, the price premium is going in one direction... down.

I love this thread. All of the coins are incredible to me. I especially like AnkurJ's bust half dollar with the gold bean. How often do you have to change the batteries in that coin? Is it a Duracell 2025 watch battery? Does the coin come with an AC adapter? That coin is crazy cool. Again, nearly all of the coins posted here are really neat and enjoyable. Thanks for posting.

Georgiacop, what is the grade on the Franklin? Not sure why you would even send that one to CAC, but it certainly is not a gold CAC!

I haven't earned the gold bean on any submissions, but I own a few. I have no shame letting others find excellent coins for me.
No Shame in that, those are some great coins.
I've made four but have been shocked at what I thought would Gold that didn't even sticker.
Certainly all there for a gold bean (1881-S), just my personal taste doesn't like the obverse cheek toning.
