Alright, how's this then: In any given auction, a coin graded MS65 will sell for more than the same issue graded G4. Empirical AND coin-related. Do I win the Daily Double?
<< <i>second: i can appreciate you not pointing out which coin(s) in this thread *you think* lack superior eye appeal.
my point is that gold stickered coins tend to have superior eye appeal in addition to being a higher grade, as demonstrated by many (not all) coins in this thread.
regardless of whether you agree with my point or not, perhaps we can agree that eye appeal is an opinion, just as gold stickers and coin grades are. >>
So you mean to assert that stickers imply superior eye appeal, and then say that eye appeal is subjective and can't really be defined. Plastic, stars, stickers are all window dressing. All you need is the coin itself to determine whether it has eye appeal (to YOU).

oooh no. sorry. you must phrase your answer in the form of a question. the correct response to coin counterparts that bring more money at auctions is: what are cac gold sticker coins?

i agree with this (partly)...the coin is the most important part...but, auction prices realized seem to suggest coins with superior eye appeal usually have the "window dressing."
I used to believe that JA was damn near infallible when it came to detecting PVC on coins.
But I got this one back with a red sticker saying PVC. I do admit the spotting does LOOK like PVC, I don't think it at all likely that CAC is correct. I cut the coin from a cello 1963 mint set, and cellophane does not contain PVC.

Did you actually read what your wrote starting with "but"? That would imply that before the world had "window dressing", coins with superior eye appeal did not fetch stronger prices at auction. In other words, you're building a straw man.
In any case, I feel a little bad about derailing this thread (wasn't really my intent). Enjoy your gold stickers, guys. Just don't hold onto 'em too long if you want to maximize your profits. Long term, the price premium is going in one direction... down.
<< <i>Bigal, what are the coins that have the gold stickers? Can't see the top of the slabs in your images. >>
The first is a 1807 bust quarter and the gold is a 1838 Classic $ 5 and the last which has not yet been sent is a 1795 $10 in beautiful AU 58. The ten won't get a gold but will get a green

I love this thread. All of the coins are incredible to me. I especially like AnkurJ's bust half dollar with the gold bean. How often do you have to change the batteries in that coin? Is it a Duracell 2025 watch battery? Does the coin come with an AC adapter? That coin is crazy cool. Again, nearly all of the coins posted here are really neat and enjoyable. Thanks for posting.

Georgiacop, what is the grade on the Franklin? Not sure why you would even send that one to CAC, but it certainly is not a gold CAC!

Sorry about the terrible Iphone images.
This is in a MS65 holder and had a green CAC sticker. I resubmitted it as I felt it was a 66.

They used to, but stopped fairly recently if I remember correctly.
Apparently, they do.
This is from John / CRO's post above:
That 1882 nickel is amazing! What is the grade?
Good to know. Too bad if they did stop.
I have just one, purchased from a forum member, but it is a variety as well;

They did colonials and colonial era tokens, up until a year or two ago. They never did exonumia, civil war tokens, or hard time tokens.

I haven't earned the gold bean on any submissions, but I own a few. I have no shame letting others find excellent coins for me.
No Shame in that, those are some great coins.
I've made four but have been shocked at what I thought would Gold that didn't even sticker.
Certainly all there for a gold bean (1881-S), just my personal taste doesn't like the obverse cheek toning.

Dang! I think our hosts need to add a "WOW!" button! Or maybe a "sunglasses" button because of all that luster.
