One of the great things about coin collecting is that it need not cost a lot of money. Post your favorite coin purchase in 2014 that cost less than $50. Here's a 1957-D that cost me $11.

truly tough call here as this is my playground...99.9% of my coin buys are less then $50....way less for the most part
as much as my toners should grab this "favorite spotlight"...i think my $$$ makers take the reign
so of all things after returning to coins in oct...my 1956 proofs take such crown
even had a free sweet cameo nickel that i gifted a forum member

    1956 proofs

this half was $38 after i sold the rest out of this set...sexy reverse feature
    image

then this quarter was $14.....not in hand yet but advertised as cameo....sexy reverse feature too
    image

this lincoln was $7....even though our host didn't see it to be cameo
    image

this lincoln was $5....love the toning this lincoln has...just needs a glamour shot

There are some very cool coins on this thread! Thanks for posting them! image

My contribution to the thread is a 1962 Proof quarter with a Doubled Die Obverse, not in Cherrypickers Guide, but in CONECA as DDO-2.
The pictures match those in CONECA exactly. I was thrilled to find it. So was the serious collector of Washington quarters who just purchased it.

You've got about 24 hours to make it my favorite purchase that cost less than $50 in 2014 image
Just say "SOLD" using the Private Message function, before midnight tomorrow.

It's an awesome "find". Not a cherry pick, and not a discovery. A methodical search, I suspect. Kudos
    AND… I commend you.

It's a lousy picture but the coin on the right came in a group that cost me under $25, and it upgrades the coin on the left in my clipped cent set. The left coin I was generously calling a ragged rim clip, I've been trying to replace it with a more traditional curved clip for over a decade.
