    I think I might have said "revealing" not "adding"..."transformed"... I might have rewritten the whole sentence. I don't think it is optimal.

    If your on a budget and really want one... You could pick up one of the details graded since the whole hoard was conserved anyway.

    Wow........the few I looked at...XF's.....really got chewed up. That's normal, eh?

    To add; Just looked at an AU58..........I'm sorry but that coin is damaged.

    The more qualities observed in a coin, the more desirable that coin becomes!

    What's interesting is that no prices are currently listed and it says to call if interested.

    It's a website...how difficult is it to make it live and have them all show?

    I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

    The SS. Republic were all hyped. The values fell tremendously on the half dollars. I bought one and soon got out of it before I was buried. If interested in these buy them in a few years from now. These have nowhere to go but down like the S.S. Republic. I am generalizing, since I don' know much about these gold coins.

    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    Count me in as someone who really wanted to buy one of these, but ultimately didn't. I loved the story, after growing up in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas, in "Gold Country", this could have been my parents who found the cans on their property. I was willing to pay a premium, even significant, like double PCGS guide knowing that I might never see all of that money if I decided to sell in the future.

    But when I came down to it, I didn't. The prices just didn't match with what the story and product added up to, for me at least. It felt a bit like greed had entered the process somewhere along the line. I'm out.

    These are priced for the HSN crowd. Coin shop owners should be pissed. These will eventually come into your shop. The owners will become livid calling you every name in the book because the responsibility will fall on you to educate these people on the rip off they bought.

    I do not agree with this. I believe that they are priced more in line with the similarly labeled SS Central America coins. I do not believe that they warrant the same premium, but obviously others disagree, several hundred so far.

    I don't remember seeing problem SS America coins. I'm talking about the problem coins,I saw on Amazon for $2500+. SS America coins were scarce type 1. Those SS America coins would carry a nice premium cracked out and sold raw. These problem coins are not scarce and would most likely be sold near melt raw.

    Whoa !
    Those first few code 92 are absolutely scrubbed looking ! Was that done during "conservation" ? I doubt they had wipe marks like that prior to
    being buried 100 years ago...

    Either the job of conserving these wasn't very carefully done or......image

    This type of hype is, for me, nothing more than a marketing ploy. Yes, the coins will realize a profit simply because they are marked 'Saddle Ridge'... and that is sad (IMO). I will not buy one, although gold coins are a prime interest area for me. Just because they were dug up in cans is not important, nor should it be. Cheers, RickO

    I agree with RYK in so much as that the prices for the shipwreck gold coins have kept their premiums in the years since their release. I think that if one does not buy one now at the "entry level" prices, that it will be difficult to find 4 or 5 years later down the road at a discount because no one is going to want to sell at a loss because they paid such a high premium to begin with.
