Backordered until after the College World Series. Another "no hitter" in my shop. We will be having a special on gold plated Susan B. Anthony dollars and free hot dogs.
I was finished placing my order at 12:11 but my backorder date keeps getting pushed out. Now it's 4/1. They couldn't have sold out the gold in 11 minutes could they??
<< <i>I was finished placing my order at 12:11 but my backorder date keeps getting pushed out. Now it's 4/1. They couldn't have sold out the gold in 11 minutes could they?? >>
I think they minted a start quantity of coins maybe 10k each or less of the gold and those will go out soon. The rest are being minted now in the ration of orders received. Probably the same with the silver but 50-100k of each type to start
I heard that seeing HOLD on my order was a good thing. Also getting the Backorder email today was another good sign... but seeing this oversell of 9,200 coins makes me worry that I still might get shut out on my $5 Gold Proof.
I ordered at 4:49PM ET on Thursday... I think I'm good.... but now I don't know.
Looks like a lot of mashing of teeth and anxiety here (again!). Hopefully there will not be the usual repeated posts about worring if anyone gets there orders or not. Let it go, as stated here earlier...the mint works at their own pace and whatever happens happens. There is nothing any one of us can do to change if we got our orders in on time or not. Worry about staying healthy, world peace, famine or whatever...but losing sleep over a modern mint issue? JMHO as always.

I also received an email today from the mint saying we regret to inform you that the uncirculated gold is on backorder. I also ordered the proof, but they made no mention of that in the email.

The 9200 over is the ones on the waiting list. I have 2 in that category too but I also have 8 in the good category also. Anything before 5PM should be good as not all the ones ahead of you will be good orders even if they sold out by 4:30.
The extra 9,200 will likely be made up of forced cancellations from the waitlist and spoiled orders (unverifiable credit cards, shipping addresses, etc.), they should be fingering credit cards now for validation.
Has PCGS ever extended the First Strike rule if one ordered on the first day and can prove it, but the US Mint did not deliver the order until after the 30 day cut off?
No date has been posted concerning FS deadline. They didn't count the release of the Reverse Buffalo's at the show, only the actual start of general shipping. I'd expect the same with the HOF coins. You can check the official dates on this web page First Strike Dates
I can't believe we are still talking about First Strike. I mean...really? All these false labels, and special labels, and "autographed by the designer" labels, etc. will be the downfall of TPGs, if not the entire hobby. So sick of it all. When did it stop being about the coin?

not really to my knowledge, but there was an incidental pre-release of a uhr, that the mint disputed until it.turned up graded at PCGS, then made the news, they postponed the clock until general shipping began, after. ogp/ book problems were solved, weeks later.

Now, now, we can't have those stupid shiny discs screwing up the eye appeal of our precious and rare plastic holders.

I'd think that the FS clock would start ticking when the Mint ships the first ones out just as with the ANAs.
The only difference that I can see is that the ANA labels didn't say First Strike whereas the Balto HOF labels does.
I believe this was asked and answered With the show purchases of the RP Buff. Show purchases and sales did not constitute shipping for first "firststrike purposes, The clock should start when they leave the fulfillment center.

Just a thought....
Happy to get that email. I didn't order til 4:49ET on Thursday.... so I feared I might be shut out.... but a 2.5 month wait is OK by me.
I did go back and order 2 Silver Proof the following night... I have to call the Mint today to see what is up with that order.

If true, a lot here will receive theirs after the 30 day window for First Strike designation.
Could result in cancellations maybe!

Zactly.
Holder to holder we LOVE the variety unlike with the coins which really all look the same.

They are shipping me the stupid bag
Congratulations. Do give him a hug and a high-five from us all.
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
The cancel box is gone on 1 of them so could not cancel that one.
Forty five dollars on the 10 orders is a little much for that garbage that I don't want.
I thought they were shipping with the coins.
I bet a lot more people will be doing this.
Let the mint keep them.
