For someone ordering 1 Coin for themslf - no. But say someone has a large position , several orders of 50, and they are aware of the predictions of $900 gold. Maybe that person, anticipating poor flipper sales, might cancel back a bit.
The last Gold Coin, the $5 McArther coin , sold around 5,658. If this HOF $5 BU sells 17,000 will that be too many ?
Anyway I'd suggest for anyone waiting for a stroke of luck, if they're on the list, wait it out. Gold is dropping. Maybe there will be cancelations.

Just priceless. He is SO excited. His grandparents and the family are as well.
I believe that those at the show were a 50/50 split. They noted that many are not yet minted as the ratio will depend on orders.
The silver uncs lasted longer than the proofs.
I was amazed at how many didn't buy the full allotment at the show initially.
It was not long before the dealers cases the lines and approached anyone with a Mint bag offering $750 - $1000 over cost for the max allotment.
It was bizarre to see dealers approach my 12 year old son offering him "enough money to buy 2,3,4 more gold coins" in exchange for the first with the "first sold" signed COA. I can understand approaching adults, but a 12 yo?

+1. Allowing one person to order of 50 of the gold means a thousand orders could eat up the entire gold mintage. Back in '09 they originally limited the UHRs to one per household. And that was, as I recall, a coin with no pre-set mintage cap.

Comparing the tiny McArthur mintages to these coins is a useless endeavor. The demand for the HOF gold coins is 10,000x more than McArthur ever was. People had 10 months to buy the McArthur coins and still passed.
Neither finish HOF gold coin will be close to a key date mintage wise but demand will put them among the keys to the series for years to come. I think I said it before, they're an instant classic.

FWIW my order for silver at 12:43 PST shows on hold while my order for gold three minutes later does not show at all in my order history. Got the email of course but no such proof on the web site.
I stayed in line in Baltimore for almost 3 and a half hours. I was one of the last people to get a gold proof and gold UNC. What was really strange was that they sol out of the silver UNC. I would have bet that the silver proof was going to sell out first.

Just checked Ebay. There are 225 current auctions for the HOF coins. I wonder how many are for coins that people have in hand versus ordered and not received. Makes me curious how many will be on auction Sunday once PCGS and NGC slabs the coins with special labels.

Raufus your son has hit it really big! Many very successful people have had positive events like this happen to them and they have gone on do really great things. Im sure with time and research a person could come up with many examples but the one that comes to my mind is Bill Clinton in a photo with John F Kennedy. And look where Clinton ended up - President of the USA is darn big no matter if there were distractions.
Your son is into Coins and Baseball and probably a lot of other things too. He is a happy and very photogenic young man that seems to posess a good amount of charisma. All very good qualities that set him on the path to happiness and achievement.
Im rooting for your young guy to go on and have a great life. He will have this big event to hold as a good time in his life which certainly will be a confidence booster. Keep up the great work you're doing in raising a fine young man.
