<< <i>it's a zombie look out run it wants to eat your brains........ >>
It already did...I am considering a bid.
<< <i>Looks about as bad as a AU-50 details coin can look.
Yes, but those denticles!
At least in the undamaged area!
A big plus is that its not in an ANACS slab.
Good thing that's all that was wrong with it. There wasn't much room left to list anything else.
<< <i>as always to each their own, was that your bid? >>
No. Coin was at about $650 with the juice before it hit the live auction. Proxies took it to what was the final realized price.
I would have bid $700 all in, but did not get the chance.
<< <i>I'd pass on that even if I was shopping for a belt buckle
Would have made a lousy looking buckle.
I have never met an Early Dollar that I would not buy...at the right price.
Not really looking for much these days but if I were, it might be a toner.
Nasty. The only useful purpose for that coin would be as a pocket piece. About the time it hit AG, it would be nice enough.
The holder couldn't contain the entire description:
"Plugged, tooled, corroded, polished, run over by dumptruck twice, shot and left for dead, drug through swamp, snakebit, tarred & feathered, used as doorstop, and found between the seats of a wrecked, burned-out 1975 El Camino."
The price that it brought, IMO, is crazy money....and I have paid my fair share of crazy money on problem coins.
<< <i>Looks like a good candidate for a hobo dollar.
That's funny!
It just reminds me that for every coin there is a collection somewhere that it would probably fit nicely.
"Seu cabra da peste,
"Sou Mangueira......."
It is also surprising that such pieces show up so much in major auctions.
<< <i>Dang that is nasty.... amazing that someone paid that much for it... Yes, it is old, but there are limits ...... correction, I have limits...
To paraphrase Laura, $1000 is the new $100.
A better one may be "add a digit to buy a widget".

<< <i>would look better if cracked out, and kept in pocket change for a year or two >>
A couple of decades would be more like it.
60 years into this hobby and I'm still working on my Lincoln set!
