Very common (as far as off metal mint errors go) for cent planchets to end up in the dies of other denominations.

I agree. Just because it's a major mint error, does not mean that it's a backdoor job.0 -
What's remarkable is that it has the whole date, and possibly the mint mark if it was made in Denver. Pretty interesting.0
