Collecting before or after...

Based on the idea of baseballjeff's baby on the way, did you become a coin collector before your first child's birth or after your first child's birth? (of course, this only pertains to us fathers and mothers). As for me, I became a collector approx. 2 years after my daughter was born (1989). How 'bout you guys?image

Before, I recall buying coins on a walk from the hospital room when my son was born from Doug Winter. I think it was this 47-O $5.

No kids and I have been collector since I was 10 years old. I'm now retired and of retirement age.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

I started collecting at age 10 when I found a Type 1 Standing Liberty quarter. I might not have known exactily how babies were made--honestly don't remember--but, I definately already knew that I liked naked boobs.
Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.
  • This was the last Dahlonega gold coin that I purchased before the birth of my son. Like my progeny, it arrived au naturel. Several years later, I sent the piece (which I had obtained in the Norweb II auction) to our host for certification. The images are courtesy of BluCC Photos.
