I have never used the sleeves... I am sure they will serve to protect the slabs from scratches, however, I do not store my slabs loose... they are all in slotted storage boxes. Cheers, RickO

This is a thread from last year that has some info.
I'm glad you brought the subject up because it reminds me that I want to pick up some sleeves.

I don't know how to "nickname" a link anymore.

Storage boxes are nice, but they take up a lot room in the safe deposit box. For my best coins have I used NGC boxes, but now that the new PCGS slabs are too thick for them, I have migrated to PCGS boxes. Since I don't use the lids, NGC slabs, which are taller than the PCSG slabs, can go into those in the safe deposit box. The PCGS boxes are also a little shorter, so that saves some room.

You can put the new PCGS slabs in NGC boxes, but you have to put them in catty cornered, which means you lose a space in a box of 20.

For the rest of my coins I use clear plastic sleeves. The new PCGS slabs to too thick for the sleeves I have used so I bought some bigger plastic bags for them. That not as good because the bags are too big, but it's a compromise.

You can type a word or phrase, then highlight it and click the url button next to the smiley face. Just paste the link in there and it will linkify the word.

For any slab, I recommend these:

They are inert, crystal clear and fit the slab beautifully...

These are what I like, but I cannot fit 20 slabs back into in the blue box...the fit is too tight. JMO

I store slabs in tight-fitting sleeves that I had been buying for something like 89c for 100, then in a double-row box. The newer PCGS slabs don't fit, though, so they are sleeveless. Fortunately, the lenses of the new PCGS slabs don't touch each other when stacked.

I use the padded transport boxes. They have more room and no need for sleeves

I used to use sleaves but I stopped because they tend to put fine scratches on the plastic which impacts photography. Todd, in particular noted this to me. I do like those Uline poly bags....they look good. Do they leave fine hairlines on the slabs? And are they inert? for now, I'm just sticking with the slabs alone.

I use the Intercept bags on almost all my silver and had to get a little creative to fit all 20 bagged slabs in a box. But it seems to work ok, and, for the most part, after years I hav'nt had any spotting or tarnishing, yet

Thanks for all the replies. Good ideas here! It would be nice to find an option which would fit inside the blue PCGS boxes.

I use the thicker, 4 mil 3X4 ziplocks. $13.53 per thousand.

Don't need them if using the box. A thin strip of foam on the inside of the box lid stops the rattling.

    Maybe I will try that.

I was considering the bag just for added protection when handling. I will still be using the PCGS boxes.

I use the zips for shipping and for storage in the SDB. If you store in the PCGS box and are concerned about damaging them when handling, just get some cotton gloves.

As you can see I got them to fit in the NGC greys.
Do the blue boxes have that big a difference in slot thickness?

Here is a link to a thread from Feb. where I show self sealing bags that fit in a PCGS Box.
I have old and new PCGS Slabs in these bags. ICG & NGC slabs fit as well. These bags have a self sealing strip that you remove and fold over the extra height,,,, about an inch and the bag is the same size as the slab.
    https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/995306/will-slabs-in-these-things-fit-in-pcgs-plastic-boxes#latest

Here is a partial box that I had handy. It is not full but I assure you 20 slabs in these poly bags will fit.
PCGS & ICG Slabs will fit,,, obviously NGC won't fit in the PCGS Box. NGC Slabs will fit in the 2 3/4 x 3 3/4 self seal poly bags.

Yes, I use the brand sleeve as in the photo I posted.

Main thing is the 2 3/4 x 3 3/4 self seal size. Many companies sell them.

Zip Locks won’t fit in a PCGS box.

Thank you Grandam I was not really looking to get these but once I seen the type you posted I went and bought some off of Ebay. I made the zip top's work but had to tuck them in and tape them down TIGHT to make them fit. But these look easy to assemble.

Just make sure they are self seal and 2 3/4 x 3 3/4 size.

Here is where I get mine. You want the ones where the self seal strip is at the very top of the bag not in the middle then you just fold over the extra and seal it.

What do you store the slabs in when they are in these bags?

I have some in PCGS Boxes, some in carboard boxes and some in intercept shield boxes.

So far no problems with any of the three.

I am talking about the clear poly self seal bags I posted a photo of.

See my original post, I get all 20 intercept bagged slabs in a commen NGC box. They are more money but a added level of protection, if you need it, what are you storing? If its silver I would recommend them. But that's just my opinion.

Sure, but it nothing different than what you see above, I just got creative with scissors (cut the excess off on the top above the zip lock so the cover would still fit) and a little scotch tape around the base to make it fit back into NGC box slots.

I have some silver. Issue is that a lot of them are in the latest PCGS holder which does not fit in the NGC boxes.

Do you buy new bags once the started protection life of 5 years has passed?

@GRANDAM I have been using the poly sleeves you mentioned. I have been modifying them a bit.

I insert the slab, then taper the adhesive flap by cutting diagonally from the top corner of the slab to about 1/4” in on the flap.

I then trim the excess at the top of the pocket on the side opposite the flap. With these modifications they fit very well and the edges of the flap don’t get caught on anything.
