Just got this Sweet Lou Kretlow yesterday. I don't often crack and resubmit but this could be a bump possibility. What do you fellas think? Doug
Hiya Doug - looks as good as any of the 7s I've picked up.
Proof positive that while I am getting better at grading, I still have a ways to go. Not that I am at all unhappy and while no one need believe me, I actually guessed the grades of these accurately on all but one, that being the lowest graded specimen. I guess I thought the overall eye appeal would be given some more credit as I didn't think a couple of faint creases would drop it all the way to poor. BUT, they are in the middle of the card and there are two of them so I don't think it's a 'bad job' by the grader or really too overgraded; just a great case of well hidden flaws. I am not complaining and I'm completely unbothered by it because it's a keeper, regardless, and I've said it before but I am truly a "buy the card, not the holder" collector. Anyhow, these five came home today much to my delight:
1967 Who Am I? Topps #22 Mickey Mantle
1956 Topps #135 Mickey Mantle
1955 Bowman #202 Mickey Mantle
1955 Topps #165 Roberto Clemente
1954 NY Journal American Mickey Mantle

I've never seen those before. Is it an actual platinum plated card?
Beckett description only states the cards contain 1 gram of the specified metal. It looks like the cards are "laminated" for lack of a better term to preserve them. Probstein had a bunch of these (including 5 total Roy's) that ended over the holiday weekend.

Thanks for the kind words. I am going for the high numbers. Have 26 of them so far including Mickey and #332 Tony Bartirome which has been driven up to a ridiculous price because a member of his family has been/was (not sure how active he is still) buying them any time they come up for sale essentially hoarding them.

The 1997 Donruss Preffered set is uniquely beautiful. Loaded with stars and Hall of Famers of every sport, it produced some exceptionally rare treasures. The 200 card set, distributed in a small tin container of 5 cards per pack, also boasted a famous subset, which had the added value of silver, gold, and platinum physically manufactured into 'Precious Metals' variations randomly inserted into packs. Donruss actually melted down these precious metals and infused the cards with each metal while producing them to print runs of just 100, which makes them, quite literally, baseball card treasures.

Slowly chipping away at my 70's HOF rookie collection for football. Been trying to get a nicely centered Swann for a while, and kept getting sniped on eBay.

Added another card as I try to complete the 52 set.

PS LOVE the hockey pickups!
You picked up a really good looking Mays, Scott.
Are you doing the high numbers also?
That's quite a task.

Picked up this raw '56 Campy, probably in the 4 range. Never shed a tear over a centered card no matter the condition. I just made that up. LOL. Doug
