Bought a collection of Gallery Mint Pieces. Need advice on where to buy wood display box(es)
I just bought a 31 piece collection of Gallery Mint Coins:
I believe there is a set of "1796 proofs", Copper to gold. A similar 14 coin set sold a few years ago at a Heritage auction:
I would like to find a source of wood display boxes (and coin capsules with inserts) to (re)assemble the sets contained in this collection.
Gallery Mint is out of business, of course. Any ideas?

I always loved that 1796 set, but I could never bring myself to pay the price for it. I own and example of the "1796 half dollar."
I like Lighthouse you can see some of their stuff here

Sugar magnolia blossoms blooming, heads all empty and I don't care ...
Bill Rosenblum had a set in the box at the Denver ANA, if that helps. I don't know if he still has it, but it seemed like a good deal. http://www.rosenblumcoins.com/

Hmmmm...Someone was trying to sell a bunch of Gallery Mint stuff at the show last weekend. He was the original buyer. I couldn't find anyone at the show who had an interest in it! Are folks starting to collect these again?
Wizard Coin Supply has access to a lot of high-end cases.
Cool set DaveW

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

I could put you in touch with Ron Landis directly and he might be able to help.

I can’t see the set very well. What are the 14 Coins in this set?

I was looking at a 1999 price list. The 14 piece uncirculated set was 790$ and the display box was 75$.
They changed the box to the one pictured above and were getting 125$
Mine is all wood and does not have the glass bottom like the one above.
buy a box on ebay and gut it, repurpose to your needs

Here is the original box sold by GMM when they announced the 1796 proof set. Notice the GMM token in the lower right corner of the lid. The capsules to hold the coins were Air-Tite holders.
Edited to add ... there was also a 10-coin display holder for the set minus the gold pieces. IIRC ... the gold proofs were issued in a capsule with a white plastic insert and not the black foam insert used by Air-Tite.
See http://www.doubledimes.com for a free online reference for US twenty-cent pieces
The Fourteen "coins" in this set are:
4 gold coins:
1796 $2.50 no stars
1796 $2.50 with stars
1796 $5
1796 $10
Six silver coins:
1796 Half Dime
1796 Dime
1796 Quarter
1796 Half Dollar, 15 stars
1796 Half Dollar, 16 stars
1796 Dollar
Four copper coins:
1796 Half cent, no pole
1796 Half cent, with pole
1796 large cent, flowing hair
1796 large cent, draped bust
Most of the coins are in air-tite/kointain type capsules, so there are only a couple sizes.
If you know somebody with a drill press, it just takes a couple of Fostner (sp?) bits - these are special drill bits that make flat bottomed holes.
You can also upload designs to the contract manufacturing houses that do CNC work and have them do it, just like I've been having stuff 3D printed. I just expect it will be more expensive for a 1-off. But fully custom.

They make a nice display.... and the wooden box adds a touch of class.... Cheers, RickO
Some good suggestions here.
Thanks folks.
PS to Cardinal: Nice set!
I really love these pieces Dave. If you decide to put them together and resell maybe give me a crack at it.
