Figured I’d start a thread, everyone knows I’m all PATS!! I know there are haters and jealous posters here as well as other Pats fans so jump in and root or flame either team, it should be an exciting game and I’m sure the Pats will follow suit with their track record and get down early and try to to claw back. I definitely fear the DL of the Eagles so I’m very nervous about the game. Go PATS!!!!!

Go Pats! My stomach is already in knots

I'm not really a Pat's fan as I am an eaglet's hater. So go Pat's! I don't want a close game......I want the Pat's to score early and often and CRUSH the eaglet's and tear the hearts out of their fans.
My stomach is in knots as well and I’m extremely stressed out
Best of luck to both teams.
Hopefully the game will be a very good one with the winner not decided until the end.
A Super Bowl blowout (i.e. the Broncos Super Bowl losses to Seattle, SF, Washington, Giants and Cowboys, none of which were close) is a big disappointment.
My desire to see the Pats lose is overshadowed by a season of professional football players treating the American Flag as rubbish.
I won't watch the game and will feel a bit guilty as I check the score online a few times.
I'm with you guys, this next 24hrs is gonna take forever. Are you Pats fans card guys or coin guys?

Both but I sold my entire sportscard collection a couple years on Mile High when top pop vintage started to go nuts. Miss them but it funded some other collectible projects and a major home remodel

I'm a card guy. The reason why i asked is because Brady cards are reaching obscene levels right now and i wanted to see if there were any other Brady collectors here. I don't know if you guys caught this but Brady's best rookie sold for $250K a couple days ago.

Thanks for the confirmation. I think I will watch Clockwork Orange instead.
Guacamole stays!
Not a fan of either team....but I see a more talented team in green here.... NE hasnt looked like a world beater and Id be forced to jump on 4.5 points with the Eagles.... If there was a blowout Id see Eagles winning one not the Pats.... Pats have all the mystique of course but the Eagles are for real.... Philly 30-NE 20...Brady's comeback this time is from down 27-10
I was a huge Vintage Football guy with a minor dive into PSA 10 Brady special edition cards- modern issues with the retro look. I reached over 50% with a 6+ GPA on the 1952 Bowman Large set but liquidated due to my concerns that the market would not hold its value. I regret selling at times because I absolutely love the Vintage Football cards. I have a bunch of non graded Vintage cards I pick up from time to time with zero stress about value one way or another. On the coin side of things I have contemplated buying a Silver a Dollar from the 1700’s but plan on doing some more research before spending the money, I also am very fond of the Silver Half Dollars from the early 1800’s but want to do more research.
Knowing nothing about coins, what would Silver Dollars from the 1700's or Silver Half Dollars from the early 1800's go for? As a vintage guy, what would be comparable in the card market as far as price & rarity to those coins you mentioned?

I’m not qualified to comment on rarity or value of the coins I mentioned that I’m interested in but I would say that it’s very subjective to what’s most desired as far as driving prices one way or another. For example I bought a PSA 6 Jim Lansford for the 1952 Bowman Large set for $1300 a few years back but that same card might have fetched $5000 ten years ago. I know I can buy a 1799 Silver Dollar from around $1300 but it might be cleaned or doctored in some way, that’s why I say I’m doing more research so I don’t get fleeced. For Vintage Football, High grade Vintage Rookie Hall Of Famers are pretty significant as far as steady prices go. I spent $2200 on a PSA 8 1952 Large Frank Gifford and was very lucky to get my money back when I sold it.
Thanks for the well thought answer. I pop over to the coin forum to lurk every now and then and i'm always wondering what a coin mentioned here or there is comparable to in the card market. I collect mostly Michael Jordan stuff with some Patriots autos every now and then.

While not rare a 1799 dollar is cool. You can buy a decent straight graded one with
some meat on it for about 3k. Think of it as a PSA card equivalent of 2.5 or 3.0.
A near Mint state example will bring 100k. Mint 150K. Finest graded is 350K+

As always,am looking forward to the game. I have a slight worry about the Eagles causing some damage. Don't see a blowout for either side. With Brady and the team being so close for another ring, I'll cheer him and the team on. Always wondered why they use Roman Numerals for SB # designation. Must be a Roman gladiator event designation type of thing.
I'm a Brady fan. Hoping the Pats finally win big in a Super Bowl but that just doesn't seem to be their m.o.
I am a cards guy. HOF and future HOF across all sports. I also have a pretty extensive Brady RC collection in PSA 9. When he got Moss as a WR and went nuts I decided to try and get every Brady RC numbered to 50 or above in PSA 9. I only have 10 cards left and 5 of them are pop 0. Of those 10 cards I am missing I have 2 PSA 10s (they bumped via PSA review) and a PSA 8 that is highest graded. I regret not going for all of his RCs (ie super low numbered ones) since those have gotten so expensive. At the time it seemed like a reasonable restriction to keep from spending tons of $$s on one player. Still can't really comprehend that a $1500 Contenders PSA 9 RC goes for $35k these days. Biggest regret is not buying a BGS 9 or BGS 8.5 championship contenders when I had the opportunity. Apparently the BGS 9 is now a 250k card, lol.
I've self submitted 3 of the Ultimate Victory parallel #100 PSA 8s which is the highest graded (still own one). As well as 2 of the Donruss Career Stat Line #214 PSA 8s which is the highest graded (sold both unfortunately). Of the 4 cards with pop zero in PSA 9 and PSA 10 I think those two are will be the hardest to find, the Victory is universally O/C (there is one BGS 9 but I bet the sub-grade on centering is low), and the Career Stat Line has PD issues. The Quantum Leaf Infinity Green #/75 comes out of the pack with corner damage but seems like one nice one has to exist. Same story with the Score rookie roll call auto #/50. A BGS 9.5 Score rookie roll call auto sold last year but it looked trimmed to me.
The Brady RC chase has been fun but now more frustrating than fun since of the cards I need maybe two show up for sale a year and go for stupid $$s compared to even two years ago. I will probably start buying one of the numbered under 50 Brady RCs in PSA 9 per year. Many of them are actually pop 3-7 in PSA 9. I guess people kept better care when they pulled a super low numbered card even if it was a late round QB sitting on the bench behind a Pro Bowl QB.

Got the chili going in the crock pot already. I'm rooting for my $2, $5, and $10 squares tonight.
I’m rooting for the Pats above all then 1 of my several Squares! GO PATS!!!!
Good luck in the quest Robb!
I think this is by far the least talented Patroits team Brady and Belichick have brought to a Super Bowl which would make a victory all that more sweet.
I don’t have a feel for this game

Right now on @espn NFL Countdown it’s brought to light about what many in the league have been hearing which this game could possibly be both Bill Belichick and Tom Brady’s final games. Both could be hanging it up. Post game could be incredible tonight if this becomes truth.

I have two dogs in this hunt because I follow both teams. I was an Eagles’ fan when I grew up in Delaware and became a Patriots fan after I moved to the Boston area.
The Eagles have not won it all since they took the NFL Championship from the Green Bay Packers in 1960. I think that it is their turn. There have been a lot of lean seasons for the birds.
I am surprised that the Eagles have gotten this far after Carson Wentz went down. I figured that Atlanta would take them out after the Falcons beat LA at home, but the Eagles’ defense made the difference. Then in the Vikings game, Nick Foles got it together along with the defense, and the game became a blow-out.
Given the Eagles’ defense, I don’t see this game as blow-out. If the Patriots win, it will be close. If Foles can get it together again, the underdogs will become the top dogs.
The Super Bowl has arrived, and I think the "signs" point to an Eagles win against the New England Patriots. So here is my two cents analysis as to why the Eagles will win this game.
It has been a long championship drought for the Philadelphia Eagles, especially considering that Philadelphia is a large city with a huge fan base supporting the team. The Eagles have never won a Super Bowl, and the last NFL football championship they won was in 1960, before the Super Bowl began. Some other professional sports teams have won championships in recent years after long championship droughts. The Chicago Cubs in baseball and the Cleveland Cavaliers in basketball. These type of happenings tend to run in cycles, so hopefully in football, the long drought ends today for the Philadelphia Eagles.
This will sound harsh, but let's be honest, Philadelphia is a snake bit professional sports town. I'm not going to regurgitate Philly sports history here. Suffice to say that there have been some highlights, but overall it hasn't been pretty, especially for the Eagles. In this season of "kneeling" in the NFL, and we all know that story, I think this works in a karma sort of way for the Eagles. The NFL is snake bit right now with declining attendance and ratings, so what better time than for a snake bit team like the Eagles to win the NFL championship game.
The Eagles players, almost the entire team, had come down with a bad case of the flu. They are recovering but perhaps with some lingering effects. This might surprisingly work to their advantage. By having been sick, the players will get an adrenaline rush from needing to step it up and overcome the effects of the illness. As a result, they may windup actually playing better than they normally would have played. After they win this game, the players will be physically exhausted, but joyous with victory, and they'll have plenty of time afterwards to fully recover from the flu, and savor their championship.
Bill Belichick in my opinion is the greatest professional football coach of all time, and Tom Brady is a top five quarterback. They will be competing against a team with no-name players and a second string quarterback. Believe it or not, in this particular game, this works to the advantage of the Eagles considering that the Eagles are a team with excellent coaching. During the season, there have been very few instances during a game when the Eagles have been out-coached. Eagles head coach Doug Pederson is no Bill Belichick, however overall, the Eagles may have the finest coaching staff in the NFL. The Eagles coaches will game plan a winning strategy, make the necessary adjustments during the game, and call the right plays at the right time for their players to succeed.
Belichick and Brady have been to and won a number of Super Bowls, winning it last season in a remarkable comeback. All of that works to the Eagles advantage. It is only human nature to become a bit complacent after tremendous success, especially as a person gets older, and Belichick and especially Brady are getting older. Brady in fact is a forty year old quarterback which is old age in the NFL. The younger, hungrier, more enthusiastic Eagles will beat the Patriots in this game.
So in a nutshell, this is how I think the game plays out. The Eagles will have a lead going into the fourth quarter. Brady being overconfident, just figures that he will make his usual winning comeback. He tries hard, but falls short. The Eagles win the game and hoist the Lombardi Trophy. A few days later, the Eagles and their great fans will celebrate with a joyful victory parade down Broad Street.
I will go to a few "bikini blond" to un-knot mine this afternoon. Go PATS all the way from Hawaii!!!
erikthredd once I get the remaining Brady RCs I think are achievable I will put a thread on the main forum with scans of each card. Has been a lot of fun overall. Watching the number of Brady saved searches in my eBay account slowly drop from year to year has been cool. Always feels like quite the accomplishment when you get to delete one of your eBay saved searches (at least for me) especially ones that are 7 or 8 years old.
Robb
Barring a disabling injury to Brady, I would say the chances of this being the final game for either one of them is zero.
Go Pat's....CRUSH the eaglet's!!!
Congrats to the Patriots for winning the AFC title this season...and that'll be it.
Boston will be filled with much activity on Tuesday...the usual...people going to work, walking their dogs, feeding the pigeons, etc...nothing special will be going on.
@fergie23 I'd love to see them once you do that. I was out of the hobby for 10+ years then sold off most of Brady's after the Falcons SB. I'm down to just two of his cards left, his 2000 SP BGS 9 & his 2002 Topps Super Bowl MVP FB/AU BGS 9. If he wins tonight I don't want to even know what these might sell for in the coming weeks because i'd have some really hard decisions to make about letting one or both go.
@stevek I posted that tweet then the latest Tom vs Time episode aired within the past hour and Brady mentions to Giselle retiring after 2 more SBs. You gotta think he's talking SB wins so who knows how much linger he'll be around.
Here's the link to the Tom Vs Time episodes for those that haven't seen them yet. Its been pretty good so far, hopefully episode 6 has a happy end Go Pats!

Of course, eventually they all retire. Those two certainly don't need the money to stay on and go thru the motions to collect a paycheck. But I just think that both of them still being at the top of their game, are just having too much fun out there to quit.
I already mentioned what I thought about Belichick and Brady as far as all time NFL greats, and I sincerely like both of them. If they weren't playing the Eagles today, I would have been rooting for the Pats to win another one.
I'd wish your team good luck today, but you'd know I wouldn't mean it.
Go Eagles!!!!!
Al Horford for the win! Celtics starting the day off with a buzzer beating win, lets see if the Pats can keep it going.

GO BRADY,,,,,, The GOAT!!!!!
Maybe this pic will help bring out an Eagles win:
So how many players kneeled? Not watching that crap league.
IT CAN'T BE A TRUE PLAYOFF UNLESS THE BIG TEN CHAMPIONS ARE INCLUDED
The game going about as expected.
Darn shame that Tom Brady in one play ruined his entire legacy and any chance at the Hall of Fame by dropping that important pass. Notice that our QB Nick Foles, didn't drop his pass.
Very exciting first half. The 4th down TD pass to Foles was both gutsy and brilliant.
But more importantly, is that truly the one and only stevek posting again??!!
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
Chuck played offense and defense, which means he played almost 60 minutes.
Philadelphia law requires designated Eagles fans to post smack during a Super Bowl.
I don't care what you say or who you rooted for.....Timberlake is killing it!!
He dropped one pass, and he' not going to the Football Hall of Fame? You're kidding right?
Absolutely right.
Bednarik was born in Pennsylvania, played college football for the University of Pennsylvania, played his entire career for the Philadelphia Eagles, and lived out the rest of his long life in Pennsylvania, passing a few years ago at the age of 89.
Truly the most beloved Philadelphia Eagle of all time.
NOT A ONE!!
You are kidding .......right??? He hasn't got an ounce of talent. I wouldn't walk across the street to see him if it was free!!!!!
I will let some other folks chime in before I explain to you why you are wrong about the halftime show not being awesome.
It's probably a generation thing.......how old are you?
Brady is going to have to throw for 500 yards in this game for them to win. If he does and they do, 250k for that card may be a bargain.
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
I picked the wrong day to run out of nitroglycerin pills.
What a game. Foles has to be the best backup QB ever.
