Very few people understand how impressive of an accomplishment this is...

Tim, that is a terrific "Box of 20". You have also alleviated my fears that I may be going completely crazy as I also collect "rattlers", although I have not taken it to the point where I only go after the OWRs.

    I do.
That is damn impressive. Still looking for my 1st white rattler.

We should make a Rattler Preservation Society.

    We should!

I owned one white rattler. But sold it because the label color had faded into a yellowish green.

That is awesome. I am thankful there were no MS Jefferson’s in that box. I would be begging for it to add to my Jefferson Rattler Collection.

    RPS is hearby conviened.
Rule #1, admission is open to all who own; want to own; previously have owned; or can pronounce Rattler.
Rule #2, crackouts are grounds for immediate expulsion.
Rule #3 @Lakesammman is recognized as our benevolent overlord.

Cool... But couldn't some just be green ones that faded white from extended UV exposure?

Motion to accept green ones is on the floor, do I hear a second?

The key is all the serial numbers start with 108xxxx.

Motion to accept faded green ones as white rattlers is denied.

Great looking set. I am trying to do a box of 20 ngc 2.0 and 2.1s. It has proven to be a challenge!

Interesting that this would be resurrected 1 year later!

The story is that the wrong stationary was delivered but they were ready to go, so they went with it.

The white labels don't have the parallel horizontal lines in the paper - smooth as a babies behind - if you look close at a green label, you can see the lines. That's the key between a low serial number (108.......) green rattler and a white rattler. Even when faded, the lines are still there.

Here's a low serial number green rattler.

Here are the 2 versions of the white rattler.

So do many of the green ones. The real answer to @Broadstruck question is that their are differences in the paper and printer used that will never fade over time. For instance, the running on the green paper.

After perusing this thread I wish PCGS had a "historian" who could check and see if certain coins were graded and put in certain kinds of holders. Say that you were looking to complete a set of 1936 Cleveland commems in each of the 4 double holders. It might be easy to find one in a 2.0 but tougher in a 2.5 so if PCGS was able to tell you that none were ever holdered in a 2.5 that would save you from wasting your time looking for something that doesn't exist.

Aside from each coin, the set in and of itself is a show piece. Spectacular.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
