check my work (your positions, position ration (1/2, 1/3, 1/4) and initial prices) in the op.
there is a reason why silver was bought on the ask but not stocks. stocks have a order type called "market on close" that gives the order the fill @ the closing price. Silver does not. It gets bought on the ask.
I am contemplating doing dividend reinvestment, but that it about 2x as much work at minimum. So, it likely will not happen without creativity.
The image format for future updates will not be this mobile unfriendly width.
I would assume I can go long that option at the price of its last trade...big spread between bid and ask. But if not, just give me the same position at the ask price of 1.75.
Positive BST transactions with Timbuk3, coindeuce, charlottedude.
The way I read the post was if you choose an option, it needs to be at Friday's closing price. It doesn't need to be posted by Friday. It would have to have its final trade on Friday in order to be accurately priced heading into 2018...so I'm not too late.

due to currency vagueries and contract specifications, pokermandude pulled up a level in rank over wingsrule from 4 to 3, and obviously wingsrule glided down from 3 to 4.
the difference caused by the currency was small in comparison to the gains each had. they were a tight 3-4 pair.
updates posted to the OP for the starting values, and the updated day 1 rank posted 7 posts back.
All you guys that are gung ho for Palladium should sell everything. My picking of PALL in the contest is going to send that to a 5 year low
Seriously its down 3.5% in a month and its just gathering steam so if my past picks are any indication you are looking at a -40% for the year. Tack on the ruinous 15% wide bid ask spread on the coins and you can halve your investment in 1 short year.
I have an update for today just to commemorate this sell off.
How are the stocks holding up?
But, there are criticisms of those not beating the s&p 500.
This is supposed to be fun.
As of right now: while the majority aren't beating the s&p for Year-to-date (Y-T-D), right about half are beating the s&p Month-to-Date (MTD)
This isn't a beat the s&p game anyway. it's hopefully more about fun than anything. Beat each other with picks and don't beat each other about their picks.
However, there will be 1 person everyone will throw tomatos at ... ChrisRx who pulled the right move at the right time... so far... just a little 5 weeks in.
ouch
many portfolios took a hit
and I guess that includes wingsrule since that portfolio jumped way up out of the basement.
johnnycache still has the magic hands. the bad month just dug that hole deeper still.

There are 1000s of investmenta that would qualify for this contest thar will go to zero. If the "winner" of last place doesn't lose 100%, should they feel good about their investment prowess?

How many picks you got that would hit spot 16 and win the booby prize 1/2oz? If you're gonna talk the game against the top/bottom play then man up on the middle of the road prize to at least participate with some fun involved.
Comments
I did too much work before I saw this, or I would have added it.
Is the final count 31, did I get that right? If so, spot 16 is the mark for the 1/2oz prize.

Looking good, Billy Ray!
100% long June expiration 6.00 strike uvxy puts. According to http://www.nasdaq.com/symbol/uvxy/option-chain?dateindex=3&callput=put&money=out&expir=stan , they are trading for 1.51 a piece. http://nasdaq.com/symbol/uvxy/option-chain?dateindex=3&callput=put&money=out&expir=stan

Ok ...100% long uvxy June 6 strike puts @1.75 is my choice. I see you posted Long options require the ask bid.

Happy New Year!
Good luck comrades.
Missed it. I would have been 100% short RIOT (Riot Blockchain). Good luck to all.
I'm tied for first!
Wow!
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
Lots of Sears action in this contest - 2 thinking it falls off a cliff, one for a rebound.
rhodium did not dive, that's from the spread
Based on past contests, half of the participants ought to end it right here, 360 days from now, they will be lower.

Back at ya, Renski!
I think Baley is referring to me!
I missed it this year but will be watching the contest and entering next year's if there is one. I still like WMIH.
Good luck everyone and may you all come in first!

I made a mistake with Pokermandude's account.
I took the closing prices of C$ as US$ without currency conversion.
I will post an updated Day 1 ranking later

After one month, more than 1/2 of our "whiz kids" are already in the red.
75% are under-performing the SP500--which is typical for individual investors.

It's early, It's for fun and comraderie.
My pick has an FDA decision in late February. If it fails, I'll be joining JohnnyCache at the bottom.
Also, this pick is going crazy. I predict a burst bubble soon.
What do the stats say about blind luck?

Biggest bump UP: Mrmojorisin: +11
Biggest DROP down: DrBuster: -15
Those are pretty drastic
I'm actually surprised by all the little + people out there after such a big drop....
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
Damn my pick took a hit, just like my 401k, yowzers.
2 more people are beating the S&P for the month.
