Toned 1921 Peace $1 - Like or not?
I'm thinking about buying this old "change purse" toned 1921 Peace dollar. Like or no like?? Does this type of toning add value or hurt the value?? The reverse looks the same way. BTW it is a NGC 58. I don't recall seeing the Peace dollar toned this way. What say you?

I am on the "not" team.
Just never been a fan of dark unattractive toning.
If the toning was a few shades lighter, I would love that look. Would want to see it in hand before a purchase. If it looks like the photo I would be tempted to buy it as the cameo effect is pretty neat
The toning is nothing special even for a Peace Dollar. I think it takes away from the eye appeal and reduces its value. I would pass.
Not a fan.
I bought this one for the same reason. But I am more of a blast white guy. I don't regret this purchase however.
A tad too dark/bland for me.
It's not for me....but then, it's not my money either...if you like it and the price fits, that's all that matters.
No
Not attractive. Odd toning pattern.
I'm with Chris on this one as well.

Can't comment on 1/2 a coin... What does the reverse look like?

Definitely not one that I find attractive (surprise, surprise)...though the technical quality looks good.....
@Peace_dollar88.... That is a very nice Peace Dollar.... Cheers, RickO
There are many who voiced their displeasure on the toning of this Peace Dollar...and you can count me among them. Too dark.

Pass on the color. Strike not very good even for an AU '21.
I think you've gotten your answer, but I'll also state I'm not in love with the coin either. Peace dollars just don't tone nicely. Blotchy, dark toning is the norm

That toning doesn't do much for me, personally.
I find it very unattractive. I like my Peace dollars white. For what ever reason toning on Peace dollars just doesn’t look right to me. I just prefer no toning on these coins. Just my opinion of course.
Based on the image in the OP, that toning looks terminal (has eaten through any luster layer, damaging the surface of the coin),,,so based on that, I would not be a fan.

Doesn't have eye appeal, I would pass

I like mine like this

I am a fan of toned coins.
But the price would have to be right for this one.

Not fan.
It's ok, not great or bad, just average in my opinion.

I love certain toning, but this I would pass on, too dark and dirty looking for me. But if you like, that's all that matters.

I like any 1921 peace dollar!!
The OP's coins might be nice, but the photo technique probably isn't showing it to its best advantage. What does the reverse look like?
Nicely toned, natural-appearing 1921 Peace dollars are a bit like nicely toned SLQs. They exist, but they're not on every corner. This one of mine isn't so terribly different in toning distribution and type:
