My 1838-D half eagle from Denver ANA

There were 3 coins on my want list when I went to the Denver ANA show. One was an 1877 IHC in MS which I bought from Rick Snow of Eagle Eye Cents. The second was more elusive and I needed help to locate one in collector grade. I turned to Doug Winter to track down a good looking coin. I had already left the show and was hiking in Colorado Springs at Garden of the Gods when he texted me with the good news. Here is the classic half eagle from the Dahlonega mint which I am proud to own!

Nice coin! I went to Garden of the Gods during Summer Seminar, it's a very cool place!
Congratulations! It's great to find a couple coins that were on your list.
In some ways it is better to have a very rare coin like that with good honest wear than a higher grade one with issues, they tended to be poorly struck so they grade them on a curve, but that is a solid VF.
I'd be proud to own that half eagle as well. Nice purchase.
The 38-D $5 is one of my favorites. Lots going for it as a single year type, obverse mint mark, and the only denomination struck in Dahlonega that year. Congrats on a fine looking example.

Great looking coin! Nice deep color in the recesses, and an attractive VF.
I have always wanted one of those but have never found the right one. That one is very nice and much less fiddled with than 99% of them being that they have been desirable for a long time and over many different "acceptable" dealer handling peiords.

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
Congrats!

That's a beautiful coin. It's got a lot of meat on it for a VF too !
That is a very nice gold coin... has character from use in commerce....but still great detail. Cheers, RickO
Nice!
Time to expand the want list!
