@avasmith6307 .... Welcome aboard.... I would suggest a major dealer such as Apmex.... there is a lot of counterfeit gold out there, so buying raw (as opposed to slabbed by a TPG) is risky. Cheers, RickO

Generally raw gold from places like APMEX is verified with a precious metals tester, however after that all bets are off since the coins come in a flip.

Stick to slabbed coins in major TPG holders. There is far to much counterfeit material out there to fool around with raw gold.

    All glory is fleeting.

Lol, sounds like a government law, -

don't buy anything, because one is to stupid to buy something real and know it, because everything is counterfeited...

    Maybe Napoleon said that, lol...

Considering that the OP sounds like a greenhorn, I'd say that was good advice.

Do you mean "raw gold coins"? As in unslabbed Pre-1933 US coins?

    Or gold bullion ?

Cept ungraded/unslabbed coins are commonly referred to as raw coins.

Not in my neck of the woods....The crew & cast from Gold Rush will attest to that, especially Tony Beets. ;)

If I have an ungraded bullion coin, I consider it a raw coin and usually there is no misunderstanding.

But then, I wouldn't call an ungraded bullion coin "raw gold" either.

Would a 1 ounce gold bar in APMEX packaging be considered "raw" gold?

This thread sure took a left turn. It went from "help me buy gold" to terminology semantics. I think we can safely say that the term "raw gold" on a numismatic site usually means ungraded gold coins/bullion.

Perhaps, but that only represents a tiny minority of the populous. And btw, the thread was: "Did any one suggest me from where I buy Raw gold?

Ok, thanks for at least explaining your disagreement. I will add again, that this is not a gold mining site, Its a coin site
    That's my only point.

If someone, lists on the BST "raw gold for sale" would you think he was selling nuggets? I think not.

It's a precious metals site which would include gold in all forms.

A simple search would have told him what he needed to know. Or at least helped him.

They use to sell some nuggets on the PM bst from time to time. Raw gold i think unrefined. Raw coins are raw coins. I'm left handed too! LOL ;)

I'm left handed on some things too. Shooting, throwing, batting. Unless gold coins are at least PM verified, I'd put them in the same boat as "raw" gold dust/nuggets since it's been posted here that modern gold coins is easily faked/counterfeited.
