Yep. Note the lack of detail in the pan and waves. Too wide distance between rim and denticals. Wrong Smashed "sasquatch" face. Be careful about any "Big E" 1984 prospectors with mirrored surfaces.

Unfortunately these fakes hurt the value of real Engelhard rounds because quite a few buyers will avoid buying something that's got a reputation for being heavily counterfeited.

Yes, I've sent a note to him and he responded and will be getting them checked at his local coin shop. Said he got them off ebay some 5 years ago.....

  • I want to thank a fellow EBAY person for getting a hold of me on EBAY. I was the one who had listed this item and he let me know you guys were talking about them. I am so happy I came here and found out that they were fakes. I bought those coins on EBAY 5 years ago and just had them sitting in my safety deposit box and decided to put them up for sale. After hearing from the gentleman and then coming here to see how to tell the difference, I say thank you to all of you. I am not the type of person who is out there selling fake crap. Yes I am a bit mad at EBAY for allowing people to get away with that stuff, but I guess it is what it is. As an honest man I took them down A.S.A.P. as soon as I heard and now see they are fakes. The gentleman did let me know if I still have the papers on it I can send it to EBAY and show them that they are fakes and maybe I would get my money back. Which I am not worried about $90.00 I am more worried that if this person was willing to sell them on there, just what else might he be selling on there. I hope I can find the papers so these people can be stopped. Now there are still honest people out here in this world. THANK ALL OF YOU !!!

No telling how many times they were sold on ebay before you bought them. Thanks for ending their journey.

  • LOL not only did I end their Journey I hope I can end the guy who sold them originally from selling on EBAY. I really don't know what is wrong with people, we are the one's that get the bad name when we just try and give people a good deal. If people are that hard up for $90.00 why don't they just go to the local sperm bank and make a deposit. ( not that I have done that ) but there has to be a better way for a person top make $90.00 than ripping people off. Let's face it by the time you make these fakes would it not of been just as cheap to make real one's?? I don't know stuff like this just really gets to me, it's not the fact that I got taken, it's the fact that people just don't have any morals anymore. Again Thanks to all of you that let me know and I now know what to watch for. BOB FROM AUandAG you are AWESOME buddy and was a real pleasure speaking with you.

post the seller's ID. I'd like to take a look at what he is currently selling.

  • Hey derryb that is a great idea if he is still selling on EBAY LOL I will even post his Facebook page LOL if I can find it. People need to know if this guy is still out there selling crap. I take a lot of pride in what I sell and want the people buying from me to know that they can trust what I am selling them. I did not get a 100% rating by selling junk.

I saw a seller, years ago, selling Chinese fake CC dollars on ebay. Got those shut down. Just checked now, 4 years later, and he's selling "unopened rolls with CC on the ends" morgans dollars. Just grew to a new way to steal from buyers of Ebay.

If they are harder to sell....they can always be sent to the smelter along with the 90% and other scrap. Real silver is still real in any form.

Looks like his f.b. indicates, he's still peddling counterfeit.
