The price was right at $22 shipped and I figured it would clean up nice.
Was going to give it a quick dip but what's everyone's opinion?
Looks better in hand then the picture I bought it off of and now I'm leaning towards just leaving it be.

I don't think that dipping it would help, as a matter of fact it would probably make it worse. I don't think all of the toning would come off, and it looks AU to me from the pics.
looks gross
Many members on this forum that now it cannot fit in my signature. Please ask for entire list.
If you like it, I am happy for you.
I think this one would be a good candidate for the before and after cleaning (err conservation) pictures.
Since you asked for opinions on conservation, a dip will make it worse. It looks terminal to me. I'm sorry for your loss.
There is a reason something sells for 22 bucks!
I believe the darkerror spots on obverse and reverse are damage, and won't come off with dip. I also see PVC where the neck meets the jaw. I'm usually a fan of russet toned peace dollars, but this one has problems. But for $22, you really can't complain.
Well I can't touch one around here for less and this one shows way more detail.
I can flip it cleaned or not tomorrow for $25.
I would only buy it for melt and the thumbprint will not come off.
Bizarrely, I like it. It's got character.

The Eagle looks 3-D....
Beginners Conservation Class 101
It's all shiney looks better in person.
First they say you wasted your 22$ . So you clean it up , now they are going to call you a coin doctor.
Apropos of nothing, I would have left the booger in Liberty's nose
That's definitely an improvement. What did you dip it in?
I'll admit that I thought the coin was environmentally damaged and that it would be a mess when dipped. I'm glad I was wrong.
Interesting. I was also wrong about the environmental damage.
That is pretty good. I have never seen a Peace dollar with such dark spots go all white again. I would have expected large cloudy gray areas.
Looks like some of the luster removed also. Appears dull ,lost it's uniqueness and is now one of many circulated dollars. Suppose on balance it is an improvement..
E-Zest Coin Cleaner
Hard to get a decent picture with a cell phone
Wrapped in a brown paper napkin and left on a sunny windowsill a couple of years, that might turn handsome yet.
Well done... That Peace dollar looked (to me) horrible ... your conservation effort worked out very well. Congratulations.... Cheers, RickO
BIG Improvement. I wonder how many on thi forum are now looking for a bottle of E-Zest.
