Washington Unity States token (or cent), dated 1783. These tokens were likely produced by the Soho Mint (Birmingham, England). They circulated in England, valued at 1/2 P, and in the U. S. they circulated with the value of a cent in the early half of the 19th century. The obverse, however, does not look anything like Washington; the profile seems closer to that of the Duke of Wellington. The reverse mirrors that used on Draped Bust large cents (but note the use of UNITY instead of UNITED), and this suggests that these pieces were made in the early 19th century. They are mentioned in 1850-ish publications concerning circulating counterfeit coins.

A really nice Barnum Museum token ... I've been working on an article about P.T. Barnum.
And the building ... It burned July 13, 1865
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals.
